Gilles RecommendsThis map shows the best of Le Mans as recommended by Gilles. It is a large, but good quality download (960kb, about 5 mins on a 56k modem) but well worth it for the connoisseur of fine things. It also includes Gilles motor museum, the Tourist Office and ACO Centre Ville office, the Railway Station and also the only DIY shop in the city centre for that essential purchase.
To view click
here. Available as a zip download (378kb) of 4 sections and a legend. These will print on to A4 and can be joined together.

SupermarketsFor the massive Carrefour click
here.309, avenue Georges Durand
(open Mon to Fri : 8h30 a 21h30, Sat : 8h30 a 21h00)
Directions to CarrefourFrom Maison Blanche side of the track. Follow the road up towards the main entrance (track on right hand side). At lights outside main entrance, go straight ahead going under the dual carriageway. About 50 yds after bridge turn first right into Avenue du Panorama. Continue to end and turn left at T junction. Follow road up and Carrefour and the Centre Commercial Sud is on the righthand side.
From the Houx Annexe side. Head towards Tetre Rouge corner. Just before you go under the bridge where the track joins the N138 (Mulsanne Straight), turn right up the slip road (this is just past the entrance to the Tetre rouge viewing area). At the top (N138) turn left and follow road up and Carrefour and the Centre Commercial Sud is on the right. This way is not available during track times so to keep it easy use the Maison Blance route.
If any of the above routes are a problem, you really should ask someone else to go who's not as thick as a whale omelette.

There is also a Champion supermarket at Mulsanne which is a lot less busier that Carrefour but a lot smaller with obviously not many hardware items. There is also a petrol station there. This is found by driving down the Mulsanne Straight to the roundabout at Mulsanne Corner. Turn left at the roundabout and its there.
