04.11 Blundell brings in the MG for a new gearbox just as the 12 Panoz goes back out. Its problem was a prop shaft that broke in the Porsche curves as the Seiler Saleen goes into the gravel. Again there are spots of rain in the pit lane as Seiler brings the Saleen into the pits to sweep out the Gravel 04.18 The Bentley is seen off the road in the gravel at the entrance to the pit lane. It is being towed out. A Porsche got in the way as it was coming in; a new nose is ready if needed with tyres and fuel. It has lost a place to Angelleli as they check under the rear body; it leaves with gravel being trailed behind, Van de poele stayed behind the wheel. After13 minutes the MG is nearly finished its gearbox change. The Kondo Dome has stopped and Migault, the car having now recovered to 19th, replaces McKeller. 04.30 The Morgan has come in to the pits with a suspected drive shaft failure It is wheeled into the garage for repairs. 04.34 The MG has just come out of the garage and after 21 minutes is circulating again now 12th. 04.36 The Prodrive Ferrari is out at the Porsche curves its engine having expired in clouds of smoke and fire extinguishing foam. 04.47 The Bentley is back in front of the Cadillac which has stopped for service, Taylor is now in the driving seat. The second Cadillac is now Bernard which is just stopping JJ takes over the driving duties. The 29 Reynard has a stop to to repair its right hand headlight, it appears to be just a loose wire. 04.56 The Morgan prepares to leave as the 12 Panoz makes a routine and rapid stop the car now 14th MDB Panoz is getting a very long penalty. The Spyker was still running well until the engine ingested a piece intake trumpet and has two cylinders with no compression. It would appear the car is probably out. 05.18 The Kondo Dome stops Kondo takes over and it continues in 19th position. The best race at present is between Hillebrand and Montagny the gap staying at about 16 seconds but the Dome is just stopping. Coronel takes over and leaves with fuel and new tyres. Bailey takes over the MG but it is stopped with the rear engine cover was removed but no major work was carried out. Coronel had a moment with a slow Porsche but continued and at 5.30 the first signs of light are appearing. The Coronel Dome is smoking heavily from the left bank of the engine but the car does not pit. 05.38 The Morgan has come in and driven straight into its garage, there is a loose bolt in the gearbox linkage. The Bentley stopped on The Mulsanne and gets going again The pit crew await its arrival but it continues with out stopping. The dome is still running and now Minassian is catching slowly the gap sown to 10 seconds. The Morgan goes back into the race after a 10 minute stop now in 33rd place. 05.51 the Bentley stops and Butch takes over the driver's seat, fuel and new tyres are added. As the Bentley leaves the lead Audi stops, its stop is delayed by a lost wheel-nut and a faulty air gun. Van de poele explains that he spun the car and that it was difficult to pull away as the clutch is not as good as it once was .Coronel has stabilised the gap to the Dallara behind to about 14 seconds. There have been no more signs of smoke from the Dome. |
