THE FIRST TWO HOURS

On the second lap Blundell is "monstering" the second of the Dallaras of Berretta while the Collard Cadillac closes on this group.
After three laps the Krumm Audi has risen to 27th after its puncture, The MG are in the first three places in 675, the Prodrive Ferrari leads Bouchut's Viper. The PK Porsche is third in class behind two other Porsches. After 5 laps the Spyker and Morgan have been lapped and Magnussens's Panoz has a stop for a puncture and Berretta drops a couple of places and Blundell turns his attention to Sarrazin and passes at the beginning of lap 6. The 5 Audi is falling back and the Morgan pits a problem at the rear with a suspected prop shaft vibration. The Auto EXE pulls off just after the Mulsanne corner with differential failure and is the first retirement. The two film cars swap places in the movie battle and the goodies now lead.
After 30 minutes Herbert, Biela, Lammers, Blundell, Bernard. Bentley is 8th Ascari 13th, The Ferrari 550 is 24th leading class and Luhr leads Dumas and Liddell in GTS

Herbert is first Audi to stop after 10 laps and several of the cars do their first stops, Biela stops next lap and leads after the stops. After 45 minutes the 64 Corvette stops and has attention to its gearbox is dropping out of gear while it fuels. It returns without delay. Just before the first hour Sarrazin has a stop go penalty for speeding in the pit lane. The Morgan is having a rear axle change.

At one hour Herbert leads from Biela and Katoh, the Bentley is 4th ahead of Bernard Blundell and Hillebrand, Reid, Krumm and Berretta complete the top 10. The Ascari is 15th The Knight Hawk MG 21st. Enge Leads GTS in 24th from Labre and the two Corvettes. In GT Luhr leads Liddell and the Spyker after its pit lane stop is 43rd.

The two film cars stop together again and this time the baddies lead the way. The Ascari has had a big accident at Indianapolis after what looked like a mechanical failure the fastest part of the track He is still in the car but moving and as they pull the car out of the tyres he is twiddling the wheel to see if it still steers. The Brabham Panoz goes into the garage with a vibration at the front right. The Bentley stops and its not a routine stop a loss of power from a turbo wastegate failure, it is replaced and Van de Poele takes over now 17th. The Knight Hawk MG visits the gravel at the end of the new section. The Short JMB is also in the garage with radiator problems after a spin.

The Cadillac with Collard stops and after fuelling refuses to start is wheeled into the garage, an early start to Cadillac starter problems after an hour and a half. The update from Ascari is that Werner is trying to fix something at the front to try and bring the car home but in the end it is loaded on a truck. Good news is that the Morgan is back out on the track.
At 17.45 the number 1 Audi gets a stop go for overtaking under a yellow.
The Carsport Holland has a front left tyre failure, visits the gravel and comes back with front body damage.

At two hours we have four Audis at the front but Kristensen is being black-flagged. Order is Herbert, Kristensen, Peter, Dalmas, MG Hughes, Dome Coronel, Cadillac Tinseau, MG Bailey, Dallara Montagny and Courage Derichebourg. Bentley is now back up to 14th place and going well. Menu now in the Ferrari 550 is up to 18th ahead of Gavin and Vosse. Massen leads Liddell in GT with the Spyker 39th and the Morgan in 48th.
