Took the Nationwide route, it works!!!

Drew €100 out in France on Saturday as a test.
Exchanges closed at €1.1392 to the £ on Friday afternoon.
Exchanges closed at €1.1602 to the £ on Monday afternoon.

Actual rate I got       €1.1540. 
No other charges.

The dollar has nosedived a bit today after a few days relentlessly climbing. I think it's dollar weakness rather than pound strength, so Euro may be holding up.

I was in Tesco last night m there rate board showed a comparison vs others , not suprisingly they were top , I think sainsburys also came close but the post office was 1 or 2 euros adrift.

The Euro cash machine at HSBC is giving out at 1.0965.  No commision or charges.

yes , minor error!   , However I've since checked Tesco vs the PO and the PO were better!  seems to be about 1.11 .

Reuters says "The pound hit a two-week low against the euro after the resignation of more senior ministers"

For sure, the $ has slipped by quite a few cents for forward purchasing.

So the beer will cost a bit more - won't spoil the fun will it!!

Why don't you all just get them from the local ATM machine? Changing money is so 2001, or just change to the euro completely, it will not harm your bank accounts if you would do so! Hurting your bank account is what your politicians are good in!!! Grin
