Mrs Lord Steve has just declared that she has decided to keep the MX5 for the summer as it looks like the weather's going to be nice throughout. Does anyone know of an decent insurance company that will insure us for 6 months? Most seem to only do 12 month policies.

I'm fairly sure that if you pay the whole premium at the start then most com panies will refund you pro rata if you sell the car before the end of the policy.

Alternatively, if you pay by installments then they should stop the DD when you cancel the policy.

Pay up front and get refunded - paying monthly by D/D gets around 23% APR oftne automatically added in interest charges....

Take out a limited mileage policy for the required period. Gives huge savings and is usually fully comp, most allow "occaisional" work use and SDP plus other bonuses like I have on the Popemobile, show cover, track day cover, full breakdown etc inc Europe.
Dont bother with the mainstream insurers... Footman James, RHF Specialist Car Division and Adrian Flux should be able to help.

Is Mrs Lord Steve getting another car after the MX5?

If so would it not be just as cheap to transfere the insurance on to the next car, not sure how much this would save or how much they would charge for doing the paperwork. But might be worth looking into.

Steve, how does your wife know the weather's going to be nice throughout?  Huh Women's intuition? The bloody wind stripped the roofing off the garden shed last last night! This is England we're talking about you know!  Wink

To be fair Andy, your garden shed wasn't the sturdiest of structures to begin with.  Call your landlord and get him to sort it out.  It'll give him something to do.   Wink

Think she should let us know when is a good time to experience an Epworth curry night again your Lordship! Guess it will be post-Lemons but sure we can meet up to discuss logisitics. Mikey is in attendance again this year too. Can't believe it's 10 years this year since we first experienced the 'tres hombres' and took the shots of you lot wearing dodgy headgear.. oh how time flies!

Ah Rick.......memories.
I'm glad you mentioned the Epworth Curry night what with all this talk of Wokingham meets, North West drinks and other things. A pre-Lemons logistics meeting over a few pints of Lal Toofan and a chicken pathia would be very welcome indeed. Lets see, I've got something on between the 11th and 15th of June but any time in the next 4 weeks would be do-able.
Just let me know and we're there.

BTW - don't suppose you've kept any of the photos of random head gear sillyness?Huh
