Sorry to say that the dear old Rudmore Cellars are being demolished as I type.
No immediate alternative but will be looking into venues

Ah dear! As an old Pompey boy from Stamshaw I remember playing darts there regularly in the league. Tempus fugit. At least the Tricorn was demolished too! What's the pub's name opposite the roundabout outside?

it went down a few weeks back, and was really quickly done. I needed a double take at first. |

Ah, the Beresford. Used to be Brickwoods Ales I seem to recall? Rubbish beer anyway! I used to use the Stamshaw - nearest to the house! |

Never knew there were so many Pompey people on CA!! they always come out the wood work.. the stamshaw. now thats a rough pub. It was even in the 60s! I remember one Friday when the dockyard workers, paid fortnightly, arrived and a game of poker started. It ended up with two left, the pub clientele divided in two each backing one of the players. There was a fortune in the pot. Eventually, all money extinguished, they turned the cards over. One had a royal flush, the other four kings. Then the fight started................... I lived in Meyrick Road in those days, down near where the M275 is nowadays and at spring tides we had water under the floorboards. Ah, the happy days of the Triumph Bonneville and three pints of brown and mild for five bob! |

Incidentally, I know it is 45 years back but if memory serves the tarmac area as you arrive at the ferry terminal was once a cemetery!

Well yes but you can only get to it once you are though the check in. So others can't join in, previously some people not traveling till later in the Week would pop along to have a drink with those departing. T. |
