Most of the cover available seems to be only available for cars up to 15 years old. (Although the government now seem to think that a mere 10 year old now warrants scrapping!).

So does anyone know of any companies that charge decent rates for short term continental cover?
I did find one company that does reasonable year long cover including the UK but mines not due yet.

Thanks

I think the full comp from "Footman James" covers euro breakdown. May depend on mileage though

Saw this on this site - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/roadside-recovery

Quote
Full Cover incl. Europe: Quoteline Direct £59
Phone and web broker Quotelinedirect* has an exclusive deal with Europ Assistance for a £59 annual 'AutoService' policy covering any individual vehicle (less than 20 years old) for a year. This includes home-start, and onward travel for passengers, plus up to 90 days a year cover in Europe. It's worth noting though, that if you're likely only to go to Europe once during the year, it is better to stick with a UK-only policy and take European cover out just for the specific trip (using the Moneysupermarket* comparison).

My car, Lara the small dark green pleasure machine was built in 1966 and Garyfrogeye's Frog (what else?) even longer ago, that special policy would cause the insurer to laugh in my face and sneer

The Footyjames cover doesn't mind about ages but when I thought I needed them in HA three or four years ago I could never get through to their agents in France via my T-Mobile (F-Bouyg) connection...

SO... whether it was any good I never found out

(we fixed the broken clutch pipe on the Monday morning with bits repaired at the local garage, a new flare was needed on a broken pipe)

bill

As last year, I shan't bother again

I thought I posted earlier but may have forgotten to click post!
I have insured the Popemobile and many of my unusual heaps through RFH Specialist Car devision... The Nissans were all £100 ish on a 3k limit and the Bedford is £102 fullycomp with full UK and Europe breakdown cover on the same mileage limit.
Well worth a call to see what they can do. I would give a number but all the docs are in the PM and I really cant be arsed to walk or drive down to where she is parked... Its an awfully long walk.

The AA will provide Continental Cover for older cars, a tad expensive, but not that much more than any of the others.  Luckily, so far, each time I've bought it I've never needed it, so I shall keep on with it!

I'm with Footman James (11 years) which is the Jag Enthusiasts Club recommended  insurer and includes full European cover at really good rates so ring 0845 330 8443.  Obviously things may be busy for Le Mans weekend but I would guess the AA may would also fail to find you within an hour.  Anywy who cares once you are there, at least you know your car will find its way home!

I recently insured a 23 year old mini with Footman James, Full comp  Unlimited mileage ,UK & Continental breakdown included  £127.  If you are already insured the RAC is worth a look , older cars are catered for.

Sorry

http://www.vehicle-rescue.com/index.php is only good for 15 year olds, but is only £21.75 for a week, based on AXA rescue, no the AA's £100, and caravans are free

Swinton will give annual cover for £95 pa for older cars, including Europe, according to GoCompare

The company I've used in the past rang me yesterday to tell me that they no longer did foreign cover for anything over 15yrs old.
The AA are now covering my 25yr old quattro for £85, which although more expensive is better than naff all !!
