I travel to Finland a fair bit, its the law there that you must have a set of snow studded tyres for the winter months, they still get stuck from time to time but are far more used to it, as would we if it happend every bloomin year.
The local councils dont fanny about with salt and grit, just use ploughs.

I believe that in Germany you need a set of winter tyres for the adverse conditions. Most of the cars in the UK nowadays have low profiles made for grip and removing water not for cutting through snow and slush, not suprising that many people have trouble. My dunlop sp01s dont do much good in the snow and these are only 65s.

Correct RedStu, even my hire car out of Munich Airport in December was fitted with Winter Tyres. If you are in a bump in snow and your tyres are not fitted then it will invalidate your insurance. |
