I agree with Perdu, the gear change takes a bit of time to get used to.

LPP, have you sorted out the DVLA 'Operators Lisense' etc? Even privatly owned it must be plated etc.
Last time I spoke to Simon we agreed for it to MOT'd (its a PHGV?) so has the same test as a car, so will have a years ticket when we get it. I should be an MOT Tester (sideline and bowstring) by the time its next due so all looking good. Woo

ommmmmmm
ommmmmmm
ommmmmmm

a prediction has just slapped me like a wet tangoing

I predict that as you get used to driving the Bedford and its quirky box it will actually drive faster than you are expecting

The "reach behind your left buttock and swing the stick into place" motion soon becomes somewhat easier and the engine will enjoy doing a bit, a bit more.
Much like Lady PP, it has a lovely gearbox Wink and changing cogs was ever so easy with a good click click up and down change. The speed issue comes from its huge fat body and aerodynamic disability. Simon says it will hit 60mph but you have no steering as the plate glass and steel viewing area makes it so ass heavy. Perhaps wheelie bars would be an option... my drive back will tell all. Sure I will have an essay to type after that... and I hope lots of you will be there for the arrival.
PP

I'm banking on being there.

If I can find my photos, I'll bring them.

There have been a number of people showing an interest in coming down for the grand arrival of the mighty beast which hopefully should be 5 pm Saturday 4th April at The Rising Sun, Wootton.
If people are looking to stay and join us for the proposed post arrival drinkies, Indian in the evening and more drinkies I will have to get some accomodation sorted as PP Towers is fully booked out with Zarses.
There are several local B&B's or a new Premier Travel Inn a couple of miles down the road, which may be more suitable as there is a pub attached and will probably be the same price.
Please could anyone interested PM me and I will get things underway.
It should be a good day Grin

It is happening this Saturday. She is all MOT'd up and sailed through with just a tyre and the usual emmissions issues. Insurance will be sorted tomorrow so the docs are here in time to tax her when we get to Wales Friday afternoon. Then its a night on the town and heading back late morning on Saturday.
The wait is nearly over!!

They have great brakes those Bedfords, 'tisn't that you ave to worry about but the overtaking old ladies in their speedbuggies.

Remember to tell the throttle pedal what you want about ten minutes before you need it...

What with having to cart that replica of York Minster around on the back of the chassis, slowing down seems to not be a problem, it's all in the "need for speed" tha' knows!

Brakes will be fine I'm sure

but I have to be in John'O'Groats that day

Embarrassed

Have fun getting to know your baby, wish I could be there

How cool to have a vehicle that has an air brake like the 55 Mercedes.  Shame it doesn't go down
