There is an thread over on Pistonheads at the moment concerning court cases for Speeding during LM week, anyway one of the forum members is in court today and his mate has provided live updates from the court house.
Linky is:

Ok 185kph, that is only about 112mph isn't it, I do not drive quite as fast as that now as I am quite happy to dawdle along, but, it seems a heavy initial fine.

In a 55mph limit, it was on the N138 not the motorway.

a comparable speeding offence in Germany would result in a 3-month driving ban + a fine of app. 500 € + 3 points to your personal traffic offences account in the central register

The storage charge was €380 on top of the €750 fine, plus loss of the wifes car for 3 months.
The simple solution is a caravan. i thought you'ld never go fast enough to get caught, but a friend has just been done for doing 70 somehere near Staines, in crowded traffic. Must have been a bright cop to spot the 'van (Remember Gatzos can't)

What's interesting here is the number of people being taken to court now. A few years ago, you'd just get a whopping fine (750 Euros) and a ban - but no court date. The punishment doesn't seem to have changed, but it all looks a lot more formal now - and the cars are being impounded for longer as a result.
