After watching practice today on itv.com, when did tracks become so sterile?? Modern F1 drivers are so pampered! There shouldn't be an option to cut a chicane or run wide in a corner, if you mess it up, there should be a big gravel trap or brick wall to eat you up - out the race and leaving you to explain to the team why your a cock!
Whatever happened to Motorsport is dangerous, don't get me wrong, I cried like a baby when Senna was killed but surely the danger element is being somewhat diluted. Surely our road-going vehicles benefit from better car safety not better track safety?
I think the reason teams battle for 1/10ths of seconds is because the penalty for over-stepping the mark is to simply run wide onto more tarmac not writing off a car, wheres the skill in that?
Being a modern car person, only now do I look back and think what men the likes of Hill, Moss, Stewart & the rest were!
