Biggest Regrets

It is good and got me thinking what is my biggest regret in life.

And then I thought what is everyone else -which they will admit to.

One or 2 of mine - is in the clip.

Another one is -

Long story, but after returning to work after being off ofr health reasons (very long story). I worked my bolxs off and got the sales figures back. When I spoke to my boss, while driving thru London ( He hated London and could not understand the driving) told me I was only getting the miminum pay rise, as he did not think I had did a good job,

I was speakless - I still remember, driving along Lower Thames street in london, wanted to pull the car over get out and tell him where to stick his job and screw him - he would have to drive the car to Slough. He got lost driving around the M25!.

If I ever had my life again - I would def do that.

Probably something where I should have said something, but didn't, but then life is full of missed opportunities upon which it's probably best not to dwell.

Failing that, something to do with women or cars.

I can't think of anything I really regret.   

One or two things I might do differently second time around, but nothing big enough to count as a regret!

Me regrets?

maybe not finding how much I love the Le Mans thing far earlier

but not where decisions made would have changed much otherwise

I watched the clip, catchy tune, but it made me think.

My mum always remembered three words that I said in childish anger 50yrs ago when I was told off. On her death bed I said three off the beautifull words anyone could say.

I wish I said them sooner.

After 18 yrs in gov' service, I was so peed off as I saw the way it was going. I left and became 'self employed'. That was in '85.

I wish I kept my pension, gold plated etc.

The only work I could get 150mls away from home. Once a month visits.

My biggest regret is not being a big part in my my son's early years.

But my God, he is brilliant.  A babe magnet and a Toy Boy   now that's my Boy.  He's 23, she is 31  

One of my biggest regrets and this is before I met my lovely wife is that I was engaged to a Persian (Iranian) Princess but I dumped her. She was 'Page 3' to a tee. I have felt like a total arse ever since.  She lived in Isfahan and the daughter of the Education Minister of Iran with the Shah. Rich!, don't even think about it - telephone numbers.

If you are reading this Soussan, I'm sorry, very sorry.

So I have a few Regets, some costly, some personal anguish.

But, hell, life is variable. You have to make life, it just doesn't come by. OK, when you get 'there' things pass by, you make your choice.

I made mine for better or worse. Thats the way you LEARN.

On our Honeymoon, she slept most of the time. Thats until I told her to 'get out and get under' to clobber the starter motor with the handy clubhammer.

1.  Getting married - won't do it again should I get the chance.
2. Not buying a genuine Escort RS1800 about 16 years ago off a mate for buttons, genuine cars are around £35-40K now.
3. Eating too much curry last night, I'm suffering for my art
4. Wasting 8 days, 6 hours and the odd minute of my life on here when I could be doing something useful (or being nagged- see 1. above)

Oh this is simple - in 1983 I was in conversation one day with Tom Falconer (now Claremont Corvette in Kent). In those days Tom was an architect with a practice in Claremont Road, Newcastle upon Tyne operating from a converted windmill. Our conversation was related to roofing on a particular contract but I noticed scale models of corvettes all over the place. He took me to the ground floor which was a store for genuine GM parts and into the basement where he had a few corvettes for sale.
And here comes my regret:
He offered me a black, 1975 convertible, 427 cu in big block, bit scruffy but who cares for £2,500.
I didn't have a garage or £2,500 at the time and I lost the beauty.
Look at them now.
Bugger!

Not doing LM with my Dad when I was younger.  He always wanted to go and would have loved it.  Our first trip to the race was made on some of the proceeds of his will.  When I sit in the grandstand at the beginning of the race each year, I always wish he could have been with us.

There's one or two things I wish I did or didn't do.  However, I can't do much now about the past, I'm looking forward to the future.

1975 convertible, 427 cu in big block

Something not right about that. Only motor options in 1975 were LT1 and L82 350ci small blocks. 75 was the height of the US gas crisis and these motors outputs were an embarrasment (no more than 220hp).
They made a few LS5 454ci convertibles in 1974, but they where a bit 'wheezing' too.

My regret? Being a smart-assed Corvette pedant.....

The year might have been out a little bit but we are talking a long time ago! A lot of Marlborough lights and pints of Stella Artois have passed my way since then so forgive me if I'm not quite dead on date wise.
It was a big block though, I know that much.
