Planning on being there Friday and Saturday night, camping at Litchlake with a couple of my lads, to enjoy a couple of evenings with the racing on Saturday and then leaving Sunday morning.

We hope to camp nearest part of field to Circuit entrance, with a bit of luck weather wise, the sixfire will be there. Hope to see you there. Lefty They say 'sh*t happens', cleaning bits n pieces in engine bay to make thing easy! Trimmed some rather thick rubberoid underseal only to put my hand into the footwell!!!!! That came as a bit of a shock. Being welded up early next week, so she'll be there.

Ah - that'll be the presence of our good old friend Fe 2O 3.H 2O to contend with then..... depending on the numbers accompanying me, I'll be in either the MGA or a Peugeot estate. MG Mark

Yep, the metal worm has arrived. It was a cowboy repair, they plated over the original rusted panel!!!! so new panel was bound to end up the same way. Then today, trying to sort out some wiring, noticed another bit of the worms work, HD wire brush was at hand and low and behold the front valence now as a hole in it!!

Leftie, the forward part of the bottom of that sill doesn't look too clever either.

I know. To be replaced before next Mot. 'king cowboys. We will get her up to spec' fairly soon. But until the Mot, she is legal.

Our Spitfire (still languishing in the garage - off the road now for 12 years) has had a particularly tough time with rust. You could always tell the foot boxes were rotting when you started to get wet feet.

The Silverstone Classic is being shown live on Motors TV on both saturday and sunday, including Murray Walker commentating on the Grand prix races.

Just got back from a very sunny, hot Silverstone having camped at Litchlake for Friday and Saturday night with a couple of my lads. Watched the racing and enjoyed the pits, paddock and all the other activities in the circuit on Saturday, as well as the usual chill out at the campsite with beers in hand.
Well worth the effort to go and the ticket price. Pure, unadulterated, motorsport porn on the track and pretty much everywhere off it too, in the paddock, on the club stands and in the car parks. All races used the main GP circuit, with free and open access to everywhere (even the pit wall) at no extra charge. Brilliantly open paddock, with good, open access to every team, car and garage. Racing was just that, with virtually all of the cars out there being raced properly rather than just pedalled round gently - two classic F1 races, a historic GP race, Group C, sports cars, sports racing cars etc made up the race card - simply motorsport heaven to see it all out there, particularly the 90-minute Saturday late evening race, with a grid of 40+ Lola T70s, Chevrons, GT40s etc. Bags of good club stands, vintage aircraft park and the Group B demos. Oh and displays from the BBMF Hurricane, Hawker Hunter, Red Devils and the hot air balloon fly outs. All in all, it was a grand day and cpouple of evenings out. Definitely be there next year for the whole weekend.
Nice also to meet up briefly with Leftie, Perdu and Vegas in the course of the event - cheers chaps - next year should be able to socialise for longer without the constraint of just being there for the single day!

All I can say is thank you Motors TV excellent coverage, great racing, experienced commentators including a lot of Toby Moody (not just brilliant at MotoGP) and a bit of John 'Radio Lemans" Hindhaugh
It's funny, normally you are quite happy to see the odd prang just to liven things up, not with this lot though it kind of makes you cringe...
It's on the list of places to do...

Our crew watched the evening racing in the comfort of the lovely pub in the village with some superbe ale. Agree with mgmark on everything. Nice to meet up albeit briefly, same goes for Vegas. We should organise something for next year.

Gutted to see the Sauber Mercedes C9 taken out of the first Group C race on the first lap in an accident not of his making. Sadly it was badly damaged when he t boned the spinning Primagaz 962 on the exit of Copse Corner. Major front end damage and lots of side impact damage to the Porsche as well.
Other rather expensive cars damaged today included the ex title winning Juha Kankkunen Peugeot 205 T16 when the owner rolled it on the Slowley sideways demo this morning.
Ouch !

We should organise something for next year.
Indeed we should - with bogs and water on tap (although lacking in showers, but that's what standpipes and baby wipes are for) my vote would be for the Litchlake site - enormously convenient for access to the circuit via the main entrance and the village, compared to the other sites which all seem to involve a major hike into the circuit. I went along on Sunday with the missus and some friends. Loads to see as usual. Was disappointed that I didn't get to see the Sauber race as that was going to be my highlight of the weekend, having not seen it for 20 years! A shame it was damaged. Took plenty of photos which I'm gradually uploading to my Pbase gallery. The rally ones (including the 205 T16's roll) and Group C ones are already up.
