This incident serves to show the massive inprovements in safety of modern cars. Twenty years ago, say in a Mk3 Escort, that incident would have been a fatac, no question in my mind. And yet all we now have is a cracked rib and bust sternum. It also proves the huge integrity of the Subaru Impreza, bred from rallying and WRC in particular. Scoobies have a massively strong front subframe; I myself can testify to this when just after Lm last year a daft bitch in a brand new Vectra pulled a U-ey in front of my Forester (sam chassis). We hit her amidships and the impact took her back axle clean off. All it did to the Forester was crack the bumper.
