The John Surtess has been rewarded with an OBE.  The only man in history to be crowned world champion in both Formula One and motorcycling.

Andy Priaulx picked up an MBE as well for services to sport and the community in Guernsey.

Shame it wasn't a K for what he's done, but v. good nonetheless!

And well done to Andy Priaulx too.

Agree with you MG, seems a Knighthood is more in order with his accomplishments.  One of DSJ's favorites, would probably have three or four F1 titles if he coud have swallowed his pride and stayed with the prancing horse (he would have walked to the '66 & '67 titles and probably would have beaten Hill in 1968).

Ferrari drivers of that era did not always live long enough to pick up a WDC!

He is truly of the greats however, never quite pulled of the team owner deal as well as others, but his cars were never far off the pace.

I think his son is racing now, it bucks the trend by being quite good.

Good point Nordic, in the latest issue of MotorSport Chris Amon considers himself very lucky, despite his legendary on-track misfortune.
I always thought the '72 Surtees F2 cars of Hailwood & Pace in their Matchbox colors were something really special.
