PM,

Spooky or what? The Big H bike ride goes right through my village. Even more spooky, the Half H starts from right outside the end of the drive of Zarse Towers!

And PM, I am hereby giving you a written warning: I seem to remember the last post you made regarding an innocent bike ride was more to do with your lavatorial exploits in the 24hr restaurant than riding a bike. This led the thread to degenerating into a series of the most disgusting tales that have ever appeared on CA. Including hearing about BigH going at both ends at once.

I hold you personally responsible, so don't let it happen again.

I cannot read properly. How come I read the word Smokie as Powermite?

It's a shame the adult literacy programmme "On The Move" is no longer on TV. And a trip to Dolland and Aitcheson is in order!

Don't worry about it A, I do the same, it's usually due to the filthy dirty alcohol.
BTW, don't use D&A, they have the same trouble as well.

Actually now you mention it Rusty, I saw a drunk lying out side D&A in east grinstead the other day. I had not appreciated he was actually the optician tho. It's Spec Savers for me from now on! Or should they be called Spliff Savers?

Gulp! Nothing to do with me, that I can remember, but that doesn't rule out a whole lot. Half H would be a good decription of my physical state at the moment. Having said that, the starting point is about half a mile from my cell.
Just got back from a long weekend in France, and have just a few more hours to go before the transfusion is complete and I can be trusted to use sharp objects again.
On Thursday, along with friends and kids I was sitting in a bar in Hesdin when it was pointed out that I'd broken out into a clammy sweat and was looking very uncomfortable. Identical symptoms that normally precede a complete and spectacular loss of bowel control. This was not the case though, I had in fact spotted 'Grimbergen' on draught, and the Harper bros. words describing this brew were bouncing around my head. "An effect similar to a pull through with a christmas tree" was what got me all excited. Of course I had to give it a go, and can report it was rather pleasant. I'm not sure whether I was disapointed or relieved, I can only think that something is introduced at the bottling stage.

Andy

My own abode is very close to three bridges, but I don't recognise that school name.

Gibber,
Their comment baffled me a bit too!
The reason you won't recognise the school name is mainly due to it being four miles away from Three Bridges. It's hardly "near", as quote by the Big H race site.

Handcross Park School, not surprisingly, is located in Handcross, just off the A23 London - Brighton road.

I did the big H last year.
I cycled to and from the start as well.
So that was big H + 20 miles ..

I didn't have time to do it this year
but I'm doing another ride instead.

Both will be better than the usual London to Brighton which with 27,000 cyclists is just too crowded.

PS
Going to Brighton tomorrow
so if you see one of the Lotuses on Mederia drive with a karting nord sticker still in the window say hello or fiick off or anything Wink

Now then H,
Let me reassure you that the bottled stuff is as awful as it's name suggests.
I like to think that it probably doesn't 'travel' too well, rather like Tetleys hand pulled bitter - the finest draught beer in the entire solar system - though it must be supped within sight of the brewery (I used to partake of the occasional half in the Brassmoulders Arms in Hunslet).
I bought a six-pack from Publix supermarket here in Orlando and it tasted like sheeott. Undeterred I hurried to The Cricketers Arms - a genuine mock British hostelry on I-Drive, run by a couple of cockney spivs and frequented by every white-legger (shaved head, tatts and football shirt) tourist in the state. Needless to say, the Tetleys tasted like aligator piss.
Good for you - for giving it a try!
I'm told there is a "Phew, What a Scorcher" heatwave at home - it's pissing down here. Dave Fax and I are convening for the CART race at Mid-Ohio this weekend - it's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.....
Regards to all
Matt
