No one used it very much in the latter days of the old site. Maybe just start a new thread in General Discussion if you are going in a vehicle of note. Smokie?

With Historic this september, ELMS in november, PQ, the 24h and the Classic, the real question is "who is going when ?"  Wink

Certainly no chance of me being at the LM historics in Sept. I am fairly sure this date clashes with the Goodwood Revival , which must be considered a massively superior event. Darling, everyone who's anyone in sportscars will be in Glorious Goodwood that weekend. I understand Bell, Moss, Piper, Sutees, Needell, Herbert, Hales, Green, Sytner and many others are already booked and scheduled to drive.

Very bad planning on the part of the ACO if you ask me. But whats new about that??

I agree Andy. You really would have thought that they could have liased to ensure there were no clashes.

Let's wait and see. They'll probably set one of the ELMS series races next year on the same date as an ALMS race!!    Roll Eyes

Is the Le Mans Classic on again this year, or are you talking about 2004?? Sorry if I am being dim, but I thought the Classis was running again until 2004??

Yes and no Mark!

You are right, no Classic til 2004. The Historic is different from the Classic and is best termed as "Classic Lite". It is only being run on the very poor Bugatti curcuit, with a smaller field. So there won't be all the stars and cars there, as per the Classic. Hardly worth bothering with, IMO.

And as I say, it ridiculously seems to clash with Goodwood. I know where I will be!

I don't know where I'll be, probably too self-proud to leave Europe and expatriate a weekend-long in your archipel !

Gilles. You are most welcome to visit our perfidious archepelego. It's not all like Bedfordshire you know!

If you want to come to the Revival, I could put you up for the night, as I live fairly close by. There are even a few spare free tickets flying about. I will be there on the Sunday and a load of us are going in fancy dress, sad bastards that we are.

So get your arse up to Caen, jump on the ferry as a foot passenger and enjoy one of the highlights of the motorsport calendar IMO.

NB Portsmouth to Goodwood is only 30 minutes or so. And you could be back in France by 06.00 Monday morning.

Gilles,
I would echo Andy's comments. For me, the revival is the best motor racing fixture in the UK, you'd be crazy to miss it, the atmosphere is absolutely unique, and possibly a little bonkers as well. It will probably confirm most of what you think of us roast-beefs.
See you there!

So I won't be able to go to Goodwood because of European Summer sessions in the South-West of France in les Landes along the Sea...

... Historic may be in late september. Do you need the adress of the ACO website to check   Wink ??
