Mulsanne on a sunny June Sunday; it's a hard life!

I guess our font of all knowledge Gilles will be the hero of the hour again here  Wink but just wondering about something I looked at in Carrefour whilst at LM. The wonderfully cheap garden pools. Nearly took one home and now wishing I had. Talking about the big 4m (1m deep) with rigid sides, pump and filter and so on .. any idea how much they are? Tried the Carrefour website but couldn't find any info........

Has anyone bought one of these for the campsites?

Cheers muchly in advance!

I'm most likely going to be passing though Le Mans at the weekend.
I'll check it out for you assuming that it's not Sunday when I'm in that area.

I shop at my local Carrefour in St Malo every week so would be happy to source info for you on the pools - they actually sell those at lots of the super marches - Le Clerq being another which can be cheaper than Carrefour sometimes

Mr RS2 has thought about getting us one but then thought again and is in fact still pondering on the whole thing - the summer will be over me thinks before he says YES

Anyway - the one you are talking about is around Euro350-400 and then up from that to about Euro1,000

You get a pump and steps with some of them.

As I said I will be doing my shopping on Saturday so will have a look

Anything else while we are at it (hmm, might re-phrase that)

If I can be on any further assistance then just ask

Thanks RS2 babe!!

Basically wondering if it's worth a day trip rather than pay the unbelievably inflated prices in the UK due to demand outstripping supply, just 'cause we've had a few days of sun on the trot!

Many thanks!

I was looking at one in Homebase for the kids. From what I can gather, it is 10 feet across and about 30 inches high. It has a wierd design that looks like it has an inflatable ring at the top and then sides/base which are wider so it actually just fills inside and the sides then come out below the inflated ring.

Comes with a filter and sells at £100.

Happy to see I'm not alone anymore and that I have such nice competitor  Cool

BTW they could be a lightly price difference between St Malo and le Mans as one of these cities isn't a touristic one !!!

A mate bought one from Makro recently, he said it was a good price. Came with pump etc, but as they recommend you chlorinate the water you can't just empty it over the lawn when you've finished. (Mind you if you get kids in it, chlorine is probably the least worrying additive...)

Didn't manage to get down to Le Mans till the Sunday.  Plus I didn't manage
to go past any Carrefour on Saturday.  Sorry. :-( It was interesting to see the Circuit when it's not invaded by the Brits.  My main reason for going to the Curcuit was to see the Memeorial to Wilbur Wright somewhere near the hippodrome.  But despite a sign to it I couldn't see where were it was.  Any clues?

Hi tmdg

Thanks for trying anyway! Mrs. Rickmeister seems to have cooled down on the idea now anyway, but thanks!

As for the Wright bros memorial, not sure where that is, there might be a reference in Michael Keyser's book, I'll check. Read on another website this morning that on 17th Dec. this year, it is the 100th anniversary of the famous flight - another excuse to go to Le Mans this year!!!!

Cheers

It's opposite the chinese on the straight before the first chicane. I've seen the sign for it and every year before we go i think i must have a look. Every year the beer stops me!!
Have you ever seen the memorial to the crashed Lancaster, in the woods betwen Arnage and Mulsanne corner. Have seen it twice, last year at around dawn sunday morning. Beutifully looked after.
