Well just got back from deep North Wales - Bangor.

Drove a nice new 7.5ton Cherry Picker (which brokedown) so back there tomorrow with another smaller truck (Tranist)

Anyroad-  Has anybody else had the total joy of driving a truck which is limited to 56mph (90 kph) ?

I mean bloody hell - HOW SLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this is what normal HGV drivers have to do, then their a better man than me Gunga Din.

The other question is, is this the speed Paddy and the other dutch in their trucks travel at?

No wonder they drink  Grin

If off to get another one now.........

You're lucky Neil.

Last weekend I did Ulverston - Rochester - Ulverston (Couldn't drop in to A1 unfortunately) in a 52 mph limited 7 1/2 tonner.

I feel your pain.

And it cost almost £200 in fuel.

I was sorely tempted to pull some fuses.

Anything above 7.5 Tonne has to be restricted to 56 mph, except for coaches 65 mph (I believe). Had to get used to the slow trucks here in Europe after the road trip! Shocked

I've only one word on the subject of slow vehicles on a long journey, where getting blown about in the vortex of a passing HGV is an occupational hazard; Commer  Sad

Guys I have to ride around all day chewing the steering wheel cos of that infernal thing fitted to my truck its a real pain in the arse  Angry and whats more I regard it as dangerous..it makes passing really difficult  those old farts doing 50-55mph on the motorways (and other roads  angel) it also contributes to slowing traffic on said roads, how many times have you been stuck behind a truck trying to overtake another with a 1mph advantage takes about a mile to get by!!!!!!!!! think I should lobby my MP to ban them!

Yes Chris, the 2 lane dual carriageways around here (A12, A14 etc) are particularly known for that.  It's the container traffic to / from Felixstowe.
Many a time I've been behind a lorry trying to overtake his mate for 5 miles or more with a 1 to 2 mph speed differential.

Put haulage back on the railways and canals and leave the roads to cars (waits for incoming Grin )

Couldn't agree more Steve, especially the canals/rivers on the main land could be used a lot more!
