While some of you are heading to Sebring, I will also be crossing the Atlantic, but instead of the hoped for trip to the 12 hours I will be in Kansas City.
Is there much to do there and what sort of weather can I expect?

Well it's plum centre of the Bible Belt, you can expect plenty of religious zealotry. An open and enquiring mind to most topics of debate will likely not be required. It's a bit dull from what I've heard too, not really tourist central. I heard it described as the US equivalent of East Lincolnshire, with a version of Scunthorp at it's centre. As ever I'm looking on the bright side.

I'm going to Kansas City, Kansas City here I come I'm going to Kansas City, Kansas City here I come They got a crazy way of loving there And I'm gonna get me some.
I'll be standing on the corner On the corner of Twelfth Street and Vine I'm gonna be standing on the corner On the corner of Twelfth Street and Vine With my Kansas City baby And a bottle of Kansas City wine.
Well I might take a train I might take a plane, but if I have to walk I'm gonna get there just the same I'm going to Kansas City, Kansas City here I come They got a crazy way of loving there And I'm gonna get me some.
I'm gonna pack my clothes Leave at the break of dawn I'm gonna pack my clothes Everybody will be sleeping Nobody will know where I've gone Cause if I stay in town I know I'm gonna die. Gotta find a friendly city And that's the reason why, I'm going to Kansas City Kansas City here I come They got a crazy way of loving there And I'm gonna get me some.

Weather, COLD probably. things to do: BBQ baby, BBQ! some of the best in the US. #1 Arthur Bryants http://www.arthurbryantsbbq.com/"The oldest and most famous of all barbeque joints in town, Arthur Bryant's put Kansas City BBQ on the map. With their legendary sauce that is so good you can "put it on bread and eat it", a trip to Bryant's will definitely show why it's a Kansas City Top Pick." happy eating -Lee

Hopefully going to Finland a few weeks later, that should be more Fun.

Hi Nordic, Everything is up to date in Kansas City or so I have heard. My advice is: http://www.airtran.com/Home.aspx they have direct flights to Orlando on Wednesday for $234 Return. Flight #444 gets in at 3:05 pm. Return flight #433 will have you back in time for church on Sunday Cold Beer, Racing, Friends, Sunshine, Hot, Sebring has it ALL. What could possibly be more important in Kansas City that can not wait for a few days Canada Phil

I grew up in Wichita, Kansas, about 3 hours south of KC. You definitely want to get some BBQ. It will be some of the best you can possibly have, and Lee is right about Arthur Bryant's. Weather is a real crap shoot. Could be snowing, could be raining, could be 60 degrees F. It's a little early for tornado season, but you could still get a might thunderstorm if you're lucky. They are very impressive. Been a while since I'v been in old KCMo, but the Nelson Art Museum is very good, check out the Westport section, should be some good music and bars. Blues and Jazz. Don't bother going across the river to Kansas City, Kansas... And, on an historical note: Kansas City can claim one of America's great contributions to international sports car racing, Masten Gregory. If you're not familiar with him (really? can that be?) here's link on him: http://www.geocities.com/mastoidfan/mg.htmlPeople should be pretty friendly. Us mid-westerners are funny that way. Yes it can be very conservative politics wise, but that doesn't mean you can't find smart people with realistic views of the world, and dare I say... liberal agendas? John
