Who comes up with these stupid names? And they get paid for it as well

North Wales Police will be taking part in a nationwide crackdown on illegal number plates, following concern at the growing use of unlawful registration plates.

Operation Larch is a week-long national campaign and starts today (Monday, the 28th of January). The operation is aimed at stepping up enforcement of current regulations by targeting motor vehicles with misrepresented plates.

The seven-day operation will aim to:

• Identify any links between the use of misrepresented registration marks and criminality

• Provide suitable evidence to justify changes to penalty levels for related offences and
• Maximise the disruption of criminal activities and reduce crime levels.

We are the 'soft option' for gaining 'Target Quotas' I am led to believe.

However, there are plates out there that are unreadable.

I would suggest to our 'Boys in Blue' to target plates that have PL, LT and ES on them as they are more probable unlisensed even in their country and therefore uninsured.

for the best. i got away with it for 9 months then i got stopped outside my house and told to change them. i then got a letter off the DVLA 3 months later saying if i commit any offense for illegal number plates again they will revoke my reg plate and put the car on a Q plate!! 

mattys Rado you saw on Saturday has has his plates on for over a year now and has one just put the front one on for the MOT, before it was in the window and no one battered a eye lid

Now not being from the UK could anybody tell me what a Q plate is?

Also why on earth would you want to put plates with a different font on your car, now I understand the importance of fonts in mail, advertising etc but ones license plate

Vehicles are assigned “Q” prefix registration numbers to draw attention to the fact that their origins or age are uncertain. “Q” numbers are therefore non-transferable and must remain with the vehicle unless documentary evidence which confirms its origins/age comes to light.
