Newhaven _ Dieppe 01:00 on Thursday before the race.Returning on the Monday.
Good price? £102.50 and only a short drive to le Mans.
But will the bar be open?
and are any other CAers likely to be on it?

I looked at that crossing but, my god, it leaves in the middle of the night We often used this route, when it was run by hoverspeed. A good compromise between short ferry+long drive and long ferry+short(ish) drive. We're now booked on Speedferries (a maiden voyage for me ), out Wednesday @ 1045, back Monday @1330. All for £72, almost reasonable Only another 5 months of waiting.......

I'm booked on Speed ferries to:
1045 Mon 9th
2050 Mon 16th
The only thing i'll say paulydee is make sure you get up early on the monday morning /sunday night.
if you miss a Speed ferries boat you could be in for very long wait.
Baron Blanc
(This time in 5 months it will only be 52 weeks til Le Mans)

An early start indeed, but 20:50 was looking a bit late for the home leg. At least we'll miss the traffic....... or maybe not.
Apologies in advance to everyone else in HA we wake up as we bugger off at what seems like the middle of the night!

Fair point, I am cheating slightly as I live in kent so only about 30 mins from Dover so the later boat is not really a problem. just means time for a meal in Boulougne watching other Lm 'ers arrive. although the only boat with really cheap tickets was the 2350 but thats just silly

The Newhaven route is for us the only cost effective and time efficient option other than the Tunnel, 01:00 is Ok as we can leave Newcastle in the afternoon rather than at 6 in the morning. I liked the tunnel but this gives us more time and the "excitement" of a ferry!

It's Newhaven-Dieppe for us as well. Out on Wednesday morning at 01:00 return Sunday night at around 23:30ish.
Cost for car + 4 + trailer + cabin both ways is £235.
Brittany Pirates wanted nearer £700 for similar crossings!

We're now booked on Speedferries (a maiden voyage for me ), out Wednesday @ 1045, back Monday @1330. All for £72, almost reasonable The huge advantage of Speedferries is on returning to Dover you dont have a 60 minute queue through Customs. Another tip for Speedferries - by December most of their 'Basic' price tickets suitable for Le Mans were gone. But if you buy vouchers you can then exchange them for any sailing that has 'Flex' places. For the next few days they have a 6 voucher deal for £26 each. With a following wind I should also be on the 1045/Wed crossing.

No ferry booked as Team Oldtimer will be leaping on the train (as has become customary of late) BUT did book the Friday and Monday off work the other day. Let the planning commence.

IIRC, you can change the car quite easily. As long as you don't book for a mini and then want to take a van for no extra charge.

Good price LPP but are you returning from Le Harve? Dinard and St Malo are great places to stay, but are quite a haul from Le Harve. Honfleur would be a better bet if you want some civilisation before the return trip home...

Whats the choices??
Anway you can always book the car as "TBA" as long as you book the right size it'll be ok.
Don't leave it toooo late as the returns tend to get full on some routes on Monday/Sunday Nights
