The 3 litre V6 I've been driving for the last three weeks was already a gas guzzler, damn happy I didn't have to pay for it myself (company car Grin)

What's the news on the price of diesel in the UK at the moment, guys?  Knocking on 1.3€ here at the moment - which is as near as dammit £1 at the mo'. Sad

Friend of mine just returned from a few days in France - diesel's up to 1.37 - I think that is roadside price rather than supermarket.

It's pushing £1.20 around this area now at my nearest Sainsbury, and have seen it at £1.24, so still marginally cheaper in France.

Mike, are you seeing much panic buying around your way now they've shut down Grangemouth?

170bhp 45mpg, Diesel BMW 320.

Costs me (or rather the company) £60 to fill up which I do often, using tesco to get the points, that are then used to buy my euro tunnel crossing to Le mans.

Everything comes back to Le mans!

I am, it's ridiculous, you can't get hold of a jerrycan for love nor money. Wink

Seriously though, I had to visit 4 stations in Aberdeen while running on fumes, untilI found one with DERV.

$4.29 over here near Chicago.  Given the pound vs. dollar, that may seem cheap to you, but not for us.  When I bought my TDI it was $1.35/gal.  Tongue

Simple bit of maths to cheer people up -

When diesel hits - £1.31.8 per litre

Then you will be paying  £6.00 per gallon!

or
7.63 EUR per gallon (1.68 EUR per litre)
or

In USA

$ 11.94 per imperial gallon (8 pints)
or
$ 10.42 per US gallon (7 pints)

and if your car does 30 mpg

that means it will cost you 20p per mile (thats just fuel)

So basically its not long before we all F@@ked

But its a good job we have a low inflation rate (yea right)

No panic buying here yet. I asked in the garage this morning if they were expecting any problems and they think it will be the middle of next week before we struggle for petrol.

They say the problem isn't really the workforce being on strike for a couple of days but the fact that it takes ages to get the refinary going again after its been shut down.
