According to Crash today, Jan Lammers has officially confirmed that RFH will not take part in the Le Mans 24 Hours in June.  Angry

Hope this is not the way that more privateer teams will end up going .....

Got the official Dutch email from RfH this morning. The rumor has been there for a while, but so now it's official. Too bad, but then again maybe wiser then stopping halfway the season, like Jan did the previous few years Undecided

A shame, but understandable and I'll miss their presence.  I hope he gets ride elsewhere though at the race, as it would be a shame if he wasn't there.  Mind you he could always come to the race and spend the time on MB with DfH.......

I'm pretty sure we'll see him racing at Le Mans. As far as I know Swiss team Horag - he'll do the LMS for them - has applied for an entry at Le Mans. Someone in another forum crunched some numbers and found that the drivers of that Horag Porsche RS Spyder (Fredy Lienhard,  Didier Theys and Jan Lammers) have an accumulated age of 162 years - sounds like a senior citizens project Grin Grin Grin

I strongly feel more positive than negative about his decision. The interview describes the situation perfectly. Having been involved with the team for a couple of months, I experienced first hand what the situation was like. Timing is everything when you want sponsorship and you should be financially secure at least half a year before the first race. This year, RfH only secured the car deal with Dome 3 months before the first race and then sponsorship acquistion had yet to be started. It just doesn't work that way. Budgets are already allocated elsewhere and all you can do is scrape some bucks here and there. The A1GP branch is much more solid and proves the team's capabilities when backed sufficiently. Maybe those sponsors can be lured into the world of endurance racing in due time with the right package. In the meantime I wish Jan all the best with Horag and I'm sure he will prove he's still a great driver in the LMS and the 24 hours.

What a shame, but its the way the cookie crumbles, its an expensive business.  Lets hope that the RFH name continues in some shape or form, and I'm sure that DfH will be with us for a long time yet.

Racing for Holland will continue as a race team. Consider it a sabbatical year in regards to endurance racing. Their activities for 2008 will be the A1GP, the national BMW 130i Cup and race car preparation for third parties.

So Jan is spending the year learning the RS spyder? Or is that too much to hope for?

That's enough to hope for. Getting everything in place well in advance is much better that starting the programme late and without sufficient funding.

Hopefully RFH will be able to garner backing from their other successful ventures.
