All the more reason to go in then, I reckon.

Incidentally, there used to be a good greasy spoon by Chichester railway station, but not sure if it is still there these days. Bound to be something non-Little Chef around in Chi or why not try Chi harbour. You turn right at one of the roundabouts on the bypass (assuming you're heading eastbound).

I,m there on friday, live local so if anyone needs any info i'll try and do a Gilles, and help out.

My usual camp site at the Lakeside Leisure Village is fully booked up, so looking for alternatives. So far I have the option of either Nunnington Farm Camping site in West Wittering or Ship and Anchor Marina, Ford, near Arundel.

Any ideas which is the best location for getting to Goodwood from, ie, rush hour traffic problems etc.

Thanks.

Have tried phoning the cafe at the railway station but they haven't answed in 2 days, am passing that way on thursday so will check it out. I know the cafe at the bognor trainstation is open from 6am 7 days a week.
As for camping i know the ship and anchor at ford would be a better bet as the road its on leads directly to the roundabout at Arundel onto the A27. Its closer to Goodwood than the Wittering one. And the Wittering road is usually a bit of a pig. There is a site at slindon(slightly closer than Ford Its a camping and caravanning site, number is 01243 814387. But i think the one at Ford is closer to the pub, and Arundel isn't that far away, it's also closer to  me!

Just north of Singleton on the A286 there's usually a roadside caravan serving breakfasts. As you head south it's on the right in a layby. Rumour has it that it's quite good - the emergency services seem to use it as their parking lot for the area.

Thanks Rhino,
I tried the place at Slindon, but they don't have any toilet facitities or showers, apart from wanting to rent me out a tent for £1.50 per night to place over my own toilet. (Which I don't have). Not sure if they would be too happy for me to dig a big hole in the campsite for me to crap into under the cover of the hire tent !
But I have managed to book at pitch at Lillies Nursery at Barnham which does fortunately have all the required facilities.

So thanks for your help with the camp site info.

If you want a good pub the Holly Tree in Walberton is run by Dave, he goes to Le Mans every year. It's not that far (2 miles?) from Barnham.
If you want i could meet you there for a jar or 2.
Further on the breakfast front, can't find times for the greasy spoon at the station, but can confirm the Mc Donalds will be open from 7.00am each morning, and is just up the road from Goodwood. There is a place in chichester called Maison Blanc but will sadly not be open till later!!

Just got back from FoS. As planned, met Powermite & crew en route, they were instrumental in blagging me into their grandstand for which I am grateful...

Great day, lots to see and excellent weather. I've never been before, and thought I needed to see what was at the top of the hill, where they turn around after the climb. It was a long uphill walk....but they run a tractor service which had long queues - if I did it again I would use that.

KPY had gone off duty by the time I reached his stall, Hi kpy.

I was walking out of the gate wondering where my car was when at the conveniently at head of the queue for a ride to the car parks I saw Chris24 & his dad, so I jumped that queue quite neatly.

However, getting out of the car park confirmed my worst fears. Just over 1h 30m from getting into the car to getting out of the car park. I couldn't see what the problem was but we just sat there without moving, at times for over 20 minutes. Typical poor organisation. I think they had too many small "roads" feeding into the main spines, but even with that I can't see how it took so long.

On balance a good day out, which I'd recommend to anyone.

btw there was talk of doing Le Mans in November....  Smiley

Smokie

We left at about 6.30 and were out of the car park and onto the main road in about 10 mins, the quietest weve ever known.I think most people thought like you ,that leaving early would help you get out quickly.
Anyway,it was good to see you again and to meet up with KP,and yes, there is talk of November,i'll keep you informed of the arrangements

Hi Smokie

Sorry I missed you, I heard you'd been round whist I was off the stand. I was covering the event for the magazine and was chasing drivers for brief interviews when you dropped by. Got some nice quotes from Dan Gurney, Jim Hall, Phill Hill, Nelson Piquet, Nino Vacarella and others.

Nice to see those of you - Barry, PM and co plus others who dropped round to say hi.

I'm on for November, of course.
