On my way home tonite I saw the most unusual undercover car I have seen yet.... Mazda MX5, Not new shape, in Black with the lights behind the tiny grille, top of windscreen and in the back window.
Not what you expect to see on a Friday after work on the M27!!!!!
Anyone seen anything similar?

Its a car used for a fire officer and certainly NOT a Police car. Mazdas are approved for use by the HO.

Apologies!
There were no markings so I assumed it was police. Still an unusual blue light wagon none the less!
Regarding Rick's scooby comment.... Lyndhurst or Winchester had a Red boy racer baiter a few years back. sure they claimed a few scalps in the course of duty!

The scoob did the rounds through the county and was never replaced. i'm led to believe it was "written off" 4 times, and just too much to run.

Read about this a while back.

Apparently to enable them to use the power to supply lights and things, they could leave the car running and they could get out, taking the key with them. As soon as anybody got in and put their foot on the clutch, the engine would cut out.

Said it was good when they had to jump out the car to chase the drivers by foot.

when i was a lad at uni in hull the local filth had an escort cossie to nab all those joy rider types.
I remember it being a bit of a target though for said naughty types as they liked trying to drive up the back of it, so it used to always go round with a police senator right up behind it, unless involved in a high speed pursuit through the avenues of course when it was razzed around full blast.

Saw it cruising a few times and in full blast pursuit only once and that was on the M62 out of Hull back towards the UK.

Blimey Dave, I must have missed this one! When was Hull annexed?
About time too, if you ask me.

As i remember it was passed in 1973 with the Separation of Hull Act in Parliament.

It was an attempt to create a tax free haven for the rich but unfortunately no one with any cash ever wanted to live there, they would rather give exorbitant amounts of tehir earnings to our friend at No 11 Downing Street so it just became a self governed ghetto with all shipping being watched from the spurn head pillboxes and gun boats and land traffic being funnelled either over the Humber Border Bridge or the Checkpoint Chav emplacement on the M62 just outside Goole.

Christ-on-a-carp-fishing-weekend!!
I'm not too sure what the hell a "spurn head pillbox" is (maybe I saw one at a Kings Road party in the seventies), nevertheless it's got me all excited, and I'm not surprised to hear it's near Goole either.
As usual, the idea of being "funnelled" never loses it's attraction.
Hull had it coming to it if you ask me, their government's never been stable since their late monarch, King Rod, was dragged over a treat near Skegness. Still, if you want to spend a weekend bound and gagged in the back of a Rover 800, you can't beat it.

The Hull administration is controlled by King Smalldick Prescott and Prince Smallerdick Prescott on HUGE salaries and pension packages that the fishing boat owners decided was too much and decided to go bancrupt.

However, the Chinese restaurant owners have now cornered the trading deficit by supplying free meals to the local royal family.

Hampshire spent theirs on an advertising campaign involving buses and poorly placed exhaust pipes

As he's 'dressed' to the left, it's the smile on the WPC that makes it interesting.
