To celebrate Wilbur Wright's first flight in Europe, the Wright Flyer III (1908) will be towed along the pit straight before the start of the '08 race. No doubt this is the first of many related celebrations to be announced.

Not quite the Wright Flyer, but a shame they couldn't get the Shuttleworth's 1909 Bleriot XI there - oldest aeroplane with the earliest aero-engine in flying condition in the world.

Although restricted to straight "hops" it's a sight to behold. Or the Bristol Boxkite or Blackburn Monoplane from that era . Alternatively of course, a Spitfire down the straight (a la Ray Hanna at Goodwood) would be a grand sight. Much better than towing something inanimate down the straight......

Wasn't there a Free French squadron of Spitfires?
Strange there's no mention of Alberto Santos-Dumont or Bleriot
ALSO I'd like to point out that its the 35th anniversary of Emmerdale farm, so will they be setting light to a lorry load of Lamb

You're either at Le Mans, or waiting for Le Mans!

perhaps the ACO may make this historic event with the wright flyer entertaining
Have a pescarola tow it up the straight and the pilot given a release button for when it gets up to speed and altitude. It could set a personal best.

Like a live link up with the International Space Station...?

It was on the runway on the Friday morning of last years classic with its props turning!
I'm not the best flyer in the world but i'd have a go
