How crazy and PC is this: The Department of Culture, Media and Sport have deemed the RAF Red Arrows as Unsuitable for the opening ceremony at the 2012 Olympics because they are too British and they may offend other nations attending. Now excuse me, but what exactly is so offensive about this?: There is at least a petition on the (probably ignored) govt website that you/we can sign ( http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/RedArrows2012/) but FFS !!! I wish people in power in the UK would get a grip and stand up for us and our country/culture and whatever else !!! Surely the whole idea of a country 'winning' (can you win a £12 billion bill?) the Olympics is for that country to showcase all that good and great about it !!!! OK, feel better for that and rant over now.

I see Five trails in that pic, surely they could load up smoke trails of the five colours of the olympics rings and problem sorted Or is that too logical and easy an answer?

Be a shame if they are not allowed - they could be a great part of an opening/closing ceremony. And yes I'm sure they could do the Olmpic rings in the right colours too (as long as it isn't a low cloudbase and too windy on the day...). A great part of it though apparently is the perceived military connotation being offensive in the present climate, rather than just the "British" angle. As well as all the other guff being spouted about what we're currently involved in and how our personnel are looked after (or not) by a grateful nation, I can tell you that this is the sort of subject that makes us feel so loved and wanted by the nation that we serve.
That said, I know when they announced it there was pretty swift outburst/reaction from all sorts of quarters, that caused them to modify their thinking to "nothing has been decided yet", so it may not be a lost cause just yet!

Anybody has an idea how many countries have just blue, red and white in their national flag? UK, USA, France, Holland, Luxemburg, Russia, Norway, Liberia, Panama, Chile, Paraguay, Dominican Replublic, Costa Rica, Cuba, Yougoslavia, Croatia, Iceland, Tsech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Malasia, North Korea, Taiwan, Phillipines, Laos, Thailand, Liberia, Australia and New Zealand. Yes, very offending indeed

Sorry Bob, just googling away there It does leave 28 countries with the same colour. With Cuba left out there's a potential 27 left (even though I got my doubts about Luxemburg joining in).
