Just wanted to congratulate Dario Franchitti for winning one of the most amazing title deciders I've ever seen in motorsports.
How it happened:
Title comes down to the last race and is realistically between Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon - whoever finishes in front of the other, wins the title.
Franchitti takes pole, loses the lead during the race - struggling with handling.
Dixon leads and is flanked outstandingly well by Dan Wheldon, who sacrifices his race to spend as much time as possible helping his team mate.
Dixon leads into the final section of the race - full course caution, green with 2 laps remaining. Franchitti makes a great re-start, pushes dixon, pushes and pushes and is in the draft coming into the final two corners. He pops out of the draft, and with ONE CORNER to go, Dixon runs out of fuel, and franchitti comes through to win the race, and the championship.
Franchitti is someone I've met during his very early days, and who was very pleasant to young fans....
So Well done Dario, for brightening my sunday evening, and showing the americans, that roundy roundy racing isnt just for Dizzy americans.....
