Sitting here watching Smokie and the Bandit on the TV and been seen them using CB Radio.

Remember in the late 70's early 80's when CB's were being used in the UK.

Simple question, does anybody use or still have a CB radio (or even remember them)

Thats a good old 10-10

Mine went up in a cloud of smoke the evening I discovered that Hornby 12v transformers have a very un smoothed not quite DC output

Comes of taking it out of the old Escort on a freezing cold night one winter...

Never felt like going legit with a legal unit

Mine was a GE with fairy lights!

10-10, wont be doing it again... Wink

Not the CB radio malarkey but I got all nostalgic for the Pontiac Trans Am.
We had a 1976 one - bright red - the engine and gear box still lives on in the big black beast in my sig  below  Grin

Yes, still have one and still use it when we go watching rallying so that we can talk between the cars in our group. But theres something wrong with my set up at the moment as I can only hear people if they are no more than 200 yards away, yet my mate can get people over 15 miles away.

Was really popular around our way for a while. Sounded crap with thick Yorkshire accents though 'ey up good buddie- ten four' etc. Thankfully it died out apart from a few die hards who thought they were texans or something. My outstanding memory of that film was Sally Fields Arse- had a big fan club at my school.

Cor!

CBees!

I used to have a set hidden under my bed and a bi-pole in the loft. (I think that's right, it might have been a di-pole)

I remember all that "1-4 for a copy" business. What a laugh. We all thought we were really naughty, breaking the law!!!

Met a lot a people through the ole CB.

Used to do a few treasure hunts with 'the Red Light Breakers' in and around Farnborough. the name came from the little red diode light that you put on the end of the antenna.  You transmit - it light flashes.

I tried it when it became legal but the amount of arses on it made me bin it.

On my old home-base Madison, regulary spoke to stateside people.

In a way I miss the cameraderie that evolved.

Bl**dy Hell these things bring back memories which I thought I had drunk away.

I had a president base station, blew all the neighbours TV viewing as I had the dv27 aeriel mounted on the metal terrace houses guttering.

But who can top this, I mounted a motorbike battery and a cobra CB & DV27 on a bicycle when I was living in Pompey, Now how sad is that.
This is Egghead up down clear and gone.

Agree on both counts, Film & arse, - but which had a big following at school, the film or the arse?

found this pic on a german web site, but why they are big into the film?  Huh
