First thought when i noticed the title  was J.P.S. Lotus. Silk cut Jag and Gulf Porche. And they were the first three

I hope this isn't limited to cars......

For my money, I would offer up the Suzuki of Mr Barry Sheene.

i've been trying to find the Rally Cross xtrac Escort, STP i think of maybe Will Gollop? Could be wrong with the driver and STP but do remember that as a kid on a saturday and being very impressed, that was before the days of the RS200's and the like joining in having been banned from rallying.

For me its anything in Martini scheme (white or silver, but not green or red) Gulf colours, Rothmans, Sunoco blue and yellow or just to add something different. I think this colour scheme used by BriSCA legend Stuart Smith between 1968 and 1976 was iconic.

Drawn a blank on the Run Baby Run Escort of Brodie. Found a few B/W ones but for such a famous car its odd they are no colour ones.

The STP cars were run by John Welsh I think. He had a tie up with Martin Schanche and brought his old cars from him, this one http://rupert8766.fotopic.net/p5737430.html is the X Trac Escort before Welsh run it when Schanche was still using it.

Schanche also tried his had at Le Mans a couple of times driving an Argo. Not sure he had the right mind set for long distance races given his firey nature. He ended up as a Norwegen MP

Other great Rally X where the 4 wd Beetles and Porsche's the best was Alamaki's one, that if remember correctly had an engine from a 935 and was stunning.

One that always impressed me was a 4 wd BMW 320 of Peit Dam. it was brutal.

George Polly used to live not more than a mile from were I live in Pound Hill. We used to see his car parked up on a trailer in his drive way.

He was sponsored by Billy Bridges, the local car breakers.

Simple but effective, for 30 years, irrespective of whether it was on a sportscar or touring car; classic or modern; BMW, Porsche or Alfa. Where have they gone :

.....and looks good in 1:43 scale as well !
