inspired by the tags discussion and in particular Dr Sconefinger being called so due to his wheels at college, who else had the coolest car at school college or whenever?
When i was a lad and at 6th form college I had a MK2 Humber Sceptre, wrap round windows fins and red leatherette, i will dig out a picture, but to my eyes that was the coolest car at my school, blew the Nova SR's and all that nonsense out of the water in terms of prestige. And strangely enough the ladies took a fondness to the old barge as well which was a bonus. One of teh cheapest steers i had but still ranks as one of the best.

Cool car? not me!! Chrysler Alpine held together with black tape. Next car was a 2.3 Firenza, loved that motor. Our little group had a mixture of mk1, 2, 3 Cortina's, Spitfire [later a GT6] and Escorts and Capri's, Christ they were good days. This is why I never critisize the max power/Nova brigade, they're having the same fun with more restrictions than I ever had. D.A.

First car I got was my Grandads Morris Marina Coupe. 1.8 automatic not the TC though. I thought it was fantastic but looking back now 6000 rpm to cruse at 70mph no wonder the gearbox exploded!!! Then I had a Opel Manta 1.6s them an Ascona Ah memories the list goes on.SRI, GTI, RS, Nowadays, well I've sold my Mk1 Escort RS Turbo and bought a VW Sharan TDI as I need it to move my stock around. Just need to sell more Kites and maybe I can get that Mosler I fancy. Not!!

Triumph Vitesse 1600. That's six cylinders adding up to a mere 1600cc. Not sure if it was cool or not but it sure taught me how to get out of a skid.

Ah, College days, Started of with an Imp, then Imp Sport and graduated up to a beautifull navy blue Spitfire Mk3. And I was only 22! Couldn't do that now at that age, imagine the insurance! My pall had a Jag Mk2 2.4, that was the coolest. But this was in the carefree days of the early 70's. My son starts work in September and has already ordered as CC an MX5. He is only 22!! I just hope PwC agree to it. Jerry

Forest Green Mk1 Cortina Estate Deluxe.
Obviously being an estate it did not have the cool rear lights, but because it was such a dark green it was christened 'the hearse'. Great for taking mates and beers to parties, and then sleeping in afterwards.
Lovely green interior.
Fantastic side ways action at a scary 20mph anytime you wanted it.
Unfortunately the car soon required too much work to keep it on the road, so I parked it up in a friends pig sty, alongside two other Mk1s, where it still sits waiting for time and funds.
One day it will roll again, and hopefully make it to LM.

First car was a couple of years after I left school, on the basis that being in London at the time, I didn't need a car to get around. A move to Germany in 1979 though saw me realise the need for speed through buying a clapped out VW Type 3 Fastback (a bargain sir, a lovely runner and solid everywhere.....not) which lasted all of a couple of months before being supplanted by my first real car - a 1974 red MGB GT.

Mine was a Mk 1 Escort, Daytona yellow, Rostyle wheels and tennis racket headrest (like the Mexico).
Very cool (I thought).
I was upstaged by my friends though, who included a Renault Fuego and a Fiat X1.9 amoungst their number.
