We are off to Limerick this weekend for a wedding. Obviously Saturday is sorted, but I googled things to do in Limerick and all it came up with is a 13th century castle and a list of pubs. Any ideas anyone? There is only so much of the black stuff I can drink and we are there for Friday and Sunday too.

I know a few - eg :-

A wonderful bird is the pelican
His bill can hold more than his belican
He can take in his beak
Food enough for a week
But I’m damned if I see how the helican

There was a young soldier called Edser
When wanted was always in bed sir
One morning at one
They fired the gun
And Edser, in bed sir, was dead sir!

There was an Old Man of Madras
Who rode on a cream-coloured ass
But the length of its ears
So promoted his fears
That it killed that Old Man of Madras

etc etc

Bob,

Was in Limerick a few years back, try and get to King Johns Castle and St. Marys Cathedral before the Pub visits, won`t take up much of your drinking time. If your into Irish Folk tunes then make sure you visit a Pub with live music, sorry I can`t remember any names of the Pubs that I visited, it was a few years back and  I`ve lost too many brain cells since then. Otherwise drink your black stuff, recite a few 5 liners ala Steve Brown, then go on your merry way.

There was a young lady named Skinner,
Who dreamt that her lover was in her,
She woke with a start,
And let out a fart,
Followed swiftly by lucheon and dinner.

Oh and here's a good one to tell in a Catholic place of worship such as St Mary's Cathederal (edited for taste)

There was a young lady from Bude
Who went for a swim in the Nude
A man in a punt
Grabbed hold of her leg
And said 'you can't swim in here love, it's private'

Bob,

When you've had enough of the 'black nectar', just ask for a supply of Blackbush Single Malt.  Not as good as it used to be as it is an 8 as opposed 12 yrs old.  On the other hand, you have a choice of the regular Jamiesons, then 'Old Paddy'.

The latter is the best.

Regarding the 'black stuff'. Limerick has all three dark stouts - Guinness, Beamish & Murphys.  I find Beamish is smoother than the other two and oddly enough I also find I can drink more!!!!!

Enjoy the craig.

At my age, it takes me all night to do what I used to do all night!!!!!!!!!!!
Then, growing old is compulsary, but growing up is just optional.

I don't do GREEN, I've got a 4x4
