worst gig: Madonna, Rotterdam 1990
What I listen to nowadays: Stevie Ray Vaughan, ZZ Top (their Texas Blues stuff), Rage Against The Machine, Soundgarden, Audioslave and all sorts of blues internet radio stations (try Shoutcast.com).

1st gig - Santana Stafford Bingley Hall I think in 1979, awesome, played Moonflower from start to end
Best gig - for sheer excitement was Led Zep at Knebworth 1979, sad to say but I cried when they kicked off with Rock n Roll, for entertainment maybe Peter Gabriels last tour or Dave (thank god for viagra) Lee Roth I think about two years ago, he was awesome at Manchester Apollo
Worst gig - Beach Boys also at Knebworth...walked out after 10 minutes of them.
Best album - impossible to choose, but if I had to it would be The Wall cos its got my fave song on it...Comfortably Numb.
Best Le Mans album - Van Halen Van Halen.

Sometimes I think some of you guys are talking a different language First gig: Lonnie Donegan circa mid-late 50's Best gig: probably the Isle of Wight pop festival early 70's - Dylan was great there closely followed by the Beatles (1962) and the Stones in the Park Worst gig: Dylan at the Albert Hall. Walked out with many others just after half time when he started with his 'new' style. Best Album: Gotta be Sgt Pepper Have to admit to listening to R4 or classic fm in the car  Del |

I saw Lonnie Donegan the year before he died, at a festival. Really brilliant, and he had the good sense to work with a lot of young musicians, rather than trying to recreate the stuff as it had been 40 years before. Surprisingly good, and not my usual sort of music. (I'm a finger-in-your-ear girl, if you get my meaning.) 30th visit to the Fairport Convention festival coming up next month - always a great 3 days of beer (good stuff, not the fizzy cr*p you get over here) and music - almost as good an atmosphere as LM but not quite.. could do with a few cars buzzing round too.... A nice American V8, now that's music.  |

One great gig I went to recently was Brum Rocks Live, Bev Bevan, Trevor Burton, Steve Gibbons and Danny King with Laurie Hornsby. Old Brum beat stuff, Traffic, Moodies etcetera, but what made it great for me was when the guys did a ten/fifteen minute memorial to Karl Wayne.
As a kid I grew up at dances where these guys were playing and guaranteed a prime selection of birds that loved 'em.
Them was the days

We tried to see if it would float, but it didn't Lived in W London at the time - parked the car up somewhere in Pompey and walked to the ferry, via a few public houses that is. Memory of it is a bit vague now (it was 35+years ago), but we sat outside a pub about 500 yards from the stage and watched/listened to Dylan from there on the last night after dark. The atmosphere was fantastic. Wonder if Pilton (sorry - Glastonbury for the non-natives!!) is the same - only a few miles from me but I have never been yet. Trouble is, it is usually the weekend after LM, and I'm still recovering. Del |

I also went the following year to see Hendrix. His version of our national anthem didn't work anywhere near as well as his Star Spangled Banner did at Woodstock. Still damn good though and a claim to fame, I saw Hendrix.
As a follow on to the missing motor bike. Once, a couple of years ago, when we visited my son who was at Uni in Pompey we decided to have a day on the IOW and as Mrs U was driving I had be trying a few local brews. When we got back to Pompey I asked a ferry terminal chappy If my bike had turned up as it had gone missing from his terminal. He said "I havn't heard anything Sir but I will check. When did it go missing?"
I replied "1970"
Not a titter, not even a smile. Just a "Hhmmmph" and walked away.
I thought it was funny.

Saw Queen (with Freddy) at New Bingley Hall, Stafford back in 197x?
I met Brian May earlier this year at the London Astrofest and mentioned the gig - he said 'was that the one where the taxis were coming over the PA?'
Godd gig, apart from the PA problems!
Saw Chili Peppers last year at Madjeski in Reading. Great gig!

Agadoo to that my friend. Confession time - first concert was Bucks Fizz at some dodgy theatre in Cornwall somewhere when I was 10. It was a holiday treat from my parents, although I did get to stare at Jane for an hour or so. |

I wouldn't class them as 'gigs', but my first 2 'concerts' were Maynard Ferguson and Jacques Lousier in about 67/68. JL played 'jazzed up' Bach. 'king Brilliant. Still listen to him - Aires on a G String - Hamlet advert. 'Spose thats why I smoke cigars although can't stand the Hamlet variety.
I also smoke a pipe when the urge takes me, so 'spose I ought to find the theme music from the St Bruno ad or something!!!
