Can anyone tell me what happened on Friday when the Police closed the road?
Allan went for his run down the Mulsanne straight and while he does that I go for a ride round to see the other cars (it takes him a while to do it you see) but this year the road was closed. It caused a lovely traffic jam, we tried to approach it for other angels but no joy.
Allan was ok and did his run in record time.

At the risk of being excommunicated, I suggest you follow this thread and see what happened. Could a joint meet be held between the two? All idea welcome so we can provide an amicable answer for all who love the Friday.

Lynxd,

I followed the thread and agree wholeheardly with the content.

We go to LM for the atmospere and the racing. WE DO NOT GO FOR THE LOUTISH BEHAVIOUR.
The 'craige' which includes excessive drinking and laughter is part of LM and always was, take Hawthorne and Moss racing under the influence and the parties they held at La Chartres.

These people were passionate about cars. Genuine race fans no matter where or type of car are passionate.

The bling and chav 'brigade' are also passionate but towards devestation and destruction. These are the same people that ruin any sport.

Everything said on 'Pistonheads' I can agree with but how can we as  Brit enthusiasts make the 'unwanted' stay away? The only way seems to be for the French Authorities to make things difficult. I would suggest that given the desire for less paperwork and more summary justice, let the CRS loose for a couple of hours.

That should calm them down a bit!

thanks Lynxd for the link it is all clear to me now.  It is such a shame because it is the only time you can see all the fantastic cars that people arrive in for LeMans.  I did notice some trying to park up in the bends on Mulsanne but the police moved them on and then parked up themselves to stop anyone else parking up.
