Not just to push this up a bit again but to provide some info, too.

I'll most probably camp at Mühlenbach on saturday evening but will only arrive in the morning.

@ Pieter: When ? Where ?

@SmithA: Where in Cologne are you ? If the satnav fails get on the A4 to Aachen. Then onto the A61 direction Koblenz and then the A1 direction Euskirchen. At the end just follow the road until you find the first signs showing "Nürburgring". Just follow these signs. If you need a detailed plan please let me know.

@ all others: Any meeting point planned ? The place where we watched the start from last year was pretty good.

Hello again,

we are staying at the holiday inn express at ECHTERNACHER STRASSE 4 TROISDORF

from what they say it is about 20km outside of the city and approx 50km from the track.

where abouts do you watch the start from?

Last year we watched the start from the exit of the Ford Kurve. That's above left of where it says PARKZONE B (which means car park B) on the map .

@ SmithA: Do you see the white line which goes from the top middle to the middle right. That's the B258 road which goes from the south end of the A1 (direction Cologne/Köln) to Koblenz. You will be coming from Cologne (above middle) obviously. I don't know the hotel. Troisdorf is in the south of Cologne. You will have to cross the river Rhein to the west to get to the A1 southwards.

Btw, if it's going to piss down next week like it does today then I wont camp.  Roll Eyes

HGB, the spot where we watched from last year seems excellent for me to meet up!

close to our campsite and several food-tents, also nice walk to pit area, so definately cool

Alright, you're standing on the track at the start/finish line and move around the track clock wise. The first right - long left - right section is called the Mercedes Arena. Then you cross the B258. At the end of the straight you turn left. This brings you to a 140 degree right hand U turn. That's the Ford corner. There's a sign on the inside saying "Ford Kurve", you can't miss it. We're on the outside. It's very open and you can easily spot people. You have a very nice view from there.
