Fed up with being a spectator to the annual show, anyone have any idea if you can buy these in Le Mans itself as I don't fancy trying to export high explosive through the tunnel?
Any help would be appreciated...

Last year my sholder was the Landing Site for a Rocket and the folk next door had a firework Malfunftion such that the Glowing then Exploding thing came sideways into our seating area while we were eating. I personally think you should not let off fireworks in the campsite. If you must buy fireworks may I respectfully ask that you buy them in the UK and let them off in your own front room.

I'm sure you understand my point of view. I have no doubt you just want to have some good fun, All I really ask is that you take great care. I'm sure Rusty will give you good advice on fireworks. The camp sites are very crowded so Rockets with 1 Meter sitcks pack a fair bit of energy on return to earth and are likely to stay in the confines of the Camp site. Seriously the one that hit me drew blood. The wound was about 5 x 1 CM and I could see the mark fo six or seven months. The one that malfunctioned did not real harm but that was luck rather than judgement. t. |

I have no doubt you just want to have some good fun, All I really ask is that you take great care. t. I concur 100% with Tom on this. All fireworks are dangerous so care must be taken on their use. You also have to consider other temporary residents on the sites. ie. would you like to be woken up suddenly at 2am by the actions of some pr*tt next door? Jerry |

I have to agree with the "very pretty but leave 'em at home" comments. I'm not so worried about my head - 13 years of marriage has rendered my skin very thick - but if some bugger landed a rocket on my car I'd be most unimpressed....
Although, to be fair, the CA LM Guide does suggest buying very, very big bangers :-)

kinda getting the impression that there's a general lack of enthusiasm for fireworks, understandable too in view of the injuries received and bizarre enough to say that my 1st ever trip to Le Mans back in the eighties was slighty marred by having my tent set alight by a rogure firework..saved some weight on the long hike home... Onwards and upwards though, as I'm going to start my 'sentance' when I come back I think I'll still go for it..if I can find them..in a responsible way  |

Loads of fireworks for sale in Brico's (diy) shops in prep' for France's other big day in July. They're only "toy" ones though as the biggies tend to be let off by clubs etc in a properly controlled way.

Well whatever your opinion, it'd be hard to criticise the shows by one MB Zone B group on Thursday and Friday nights. They seemed well organised and planned, and must have cost the equivalent of ....well...an awful lot of fireworks.

smokie, I agree, the displays were surperb and obviously well organised. I was at DfH on friday night watching and kept falling over trying to see the skybursts!!!!! Jerry |

Just as last year Rusty stayed sober to put up the firedisplay near our pitch. So you can thank The Brethern through him for the fireworks. |
