Now the official website wants money to use the webcam.  When are they going to start charging to view their website?

Exactly helmetpurple, but unfortunately there seems to be an inbuilt philosophy for a lot of people here to simply bash the ACO whenever possible.

I don't hear the same people scream at the bbc because they have to pay a licence fee for a tv, neither do I hear them screaming at Sky because they have to pay a subscription to watch some of the motor sport on satellite tv. But give them a chance to have a go at the ACO and it is open season  Embarrassed

Well, it's very simple, if you don't like it, then don't bother going to the event. Stay here and follow something really cheap like F1.

Have to agree Mr I,  Some how people think that beacuse some  thing is provided for free it costs nothing to run.
Offering things for free is fine.  If people don't like the service you can refund them the cash at double the amount they paid you.

If it's free it's worthless.   If they charge you have the choice pay for it or don't.   I think it's qhite cheap to the Web only access if your not a member.

However there does seem to be a problem with the registration at the moment.

I would think that the webcam is on the website as a taster,

I am hooked so in that respect is not applicable,

 but others may bite,

but I still like to look

but what the hell I am there for real in 8 Days

Yup! Just like cramming us "peeps" into the circuit, and providing minimal services!

Thanks Mr I.  It now costs well on 3 times as much to get standing room (if there is any where the corporate stuff doesn't block your view) at any grand prix - for one day only - as it does for 2 scrutineering days (where you can touch the cars if you wish) at PQ; 9 hours of pq; 2 lots of 2 qualifying sessions and a 24 hour race - to say nothing of the 2 days of scrutineering which are absolutely free, and the drivers' parade in the town likewise.  The facilities are good compared your average UK circuit and getting better all the time.  I spotted at least 6 new loo blocks (some with showers) this weekend; new tunnels being built with wheelchair access; new spectator banking at Tertre Rouge (fantastic for photography) etc etc. And all the grandstands are available to your average punter - not like at gp's where they're all full of corporate bods who know nothing about what they're watching.  For 35 quid or so it's unbeatable value.

Of course extra stuff like the live web coverage costs money -we're just beginning to discover how much the big cheese has been coughing up to provide us with this site for the past 10 years or so - it ain't cheap!

You're either at Le Mans, or waiting for Le Mans!

That has summed it up perfectly. Give them a break. If a British circuit gave us everything that the ACO give us on one ticket no-one would be able to afford to go.
