Just had a text from my brother (Skid Solo on here) who is down at Portsmouth waiting to get on the ferry to Le Havre with Christopher and a couple of others.

Git!

(Only 11 days to go for me though... Grin)
We were all sitting in the sun outside the bar next door to the entrance yesterday - hope they all made it back again (with soggy tents?)  It's tipping it down now.

I guess I'll be first to depart for the main event.  Leaving home 5.00am tomorrow (tuesday 5th), arriving Le Mans wed 13th.  No, I'm not walking, I'm going via a Greek island.

Safe trip everyone, whatever your route/transportation/date of departure, and look forward to meeting up with friends old and new.

Del
see you there Del, we'll keepyour spot safe for you!

To add speed, just add lightness.

A very wet Monday morning.......10mm puddle in the driver's seat and no sign of the rain stopping before we had to head off for the port. The rain got so bad on the way back that I had to take shelter in a petrol station for 15 mins so that I could try and mop up the water on the dash and dry the inside of the screen. Oh how we laughed.

But an hour up the road and it was glorious sunshine again. Water proof in the boot and sunglasses and t-shirts rest of the way.

Good to meet lynxd67 on Saturday afternoon and termietermite on Suday for a cool beer.

As for the track action......great to get an early sniff and see the changes without the huge crowds.

At first the changes at TR appear to disappoint as you walk towards it down the slight hill, but once there it is great. The viewing on both the inside and outside of the corner is much better. Yes, its a pity the older trees have gone, but LM is always changing and these latest ones work in my opinion. How good the viewing will be on race weekend might be a different matter.

Agreed about TR; unpreposessing at first but really excellent and good to watch the cars disappear down the Hunaudieres straight - I have a feeling that's going to be a good spot after dark.  It's going to be bristling with people during the day time on Sat and Sun so my advice would be to take the trip during qualifying to get some good pics in the bag.

Good to meet you and thanks again for the contraband. Smiley

I'd offer to be a CA caretaker for the weekend, but I can't get on the site from home. Don't know why I can't, but I'll think of you when I'm camping in the garden, listening to RLM.

Just watched the PQs that has been put on yootube and I must say that I was impressed with the view from the outside of TR. I was very sceptical about the changes and wasn't happy at all when I saw what they had done last year but now it is finished I am looking forward to watching from there.

Can confirm that Del and Mrs Del got away ok on the first leg of their tour. Del's LMmobile is now resting on my drive, building up it's strength. Del will travel from Santorini to Cyprus to Gatwick, then it's Gatwick to Somerset, pick up his mate and go straight back to Dover, across the channel to Calais and down to LM . Sounds a bit tiring if you ask me!

Piglet and I leave for Le Mans today via DTM at Brands Hatch Grin. Ferry Sunday afternoon then hotel Sunday night in France to get to MB Monday. If  all goes well we will be in the queue to see how the zoneing works by 7 (ish) Roll Eyes. We will not have internet access until Tuesday 12th or may be Wednesday  Angry so we will wish everyone travelling to LM  Grin a safe trip and see you there next week.
