End of an ERA
« on: May 26, 2007, 10:25:40 am »
Im told by the Popemobile's owner that it will not be atLM this year.
It was to be sold to a guy from the USA but theyve been let down and now have no time to get it ready. That on top of the Pope himself not being in too good health this year, they have decided to bring cars and a van and to doss in squaler.

Oh no!  Please pass our best wishes to the Pope, we were camped just about opposite them last year.

If he's interested, I have, somewhere in amongst hours of video footage, some nice footage of the Popemobile with its flags flying from last year, plus the Pope and his attendants at the DfH party (I think the Pope at the party is in "the" Movie).

The American we refer to,lost his very well paying job.He was fired for going to LeMans last year.
He had scheduled vacation, and one day prior to leaving his boss cancelled his off time. And I or you would have done, he went.He fell in love with the Popemobile, and is deeply saddened by not having the capability to obtain it.

Do they not have employment tribunals in the states.

Sounds like he had a fair case for wrongful dismissal.

Thats bad news on all counts, Hope the Pope will be lifted by his trip to LM and a real bummer about our friend and his job, did his boss have no appriceation about life? it's a shame that it does'nt seem like we'll see the Popemobile at Sebring as planned.

Whilst we were at Greg's hunting lodge at River Ranch he was chatting with Barney (Turn 7 The Hairpin copycat  ;D) who has a transportation company and plans were afoot for Greg to buy it and Barney to sort out the shipping. They would then tour it around US air displays and hopefully make their money back within a couple of years at the most.

I'll give Greg a call and see if they are still interested!
