Love the cars, the good old days.
Can't help looking at the hoarding on the stand - The Speedbird logo and BOAC, was told what it stood for, but too rude to say here.
VC10 - what year was that?

Sorry about the quality of the pic (it is nearly 40 years old! and taken on a Practikamat!) but here's a plane and the race.

Ohh my Dad used to fly VC10s for BOAC!!!! I hope you werent gonna be insulting his memory!!! My uncle was a flight engineer on VC10's for BOAC. He used to call them "The Queen of the Sky" Chances are they knew each other, it wasn't a huge fleet!

The VC10's were built (in part by my Grandfather) at Weybridge (Brooklands), I can remeber my school shaking when they took off because it was a realtivly short runway and they really had to wellie it to take off. (Sorry Termi but the plane in the background of the last pic is a Jumbo 747 - still a great pic though)

That 747, must have been one of the first of BOAC fleet, becasue the 747 only got it air cert. in 69 (as I was told same year as Concorde)
So where was that airfield/track?
And as for VC10, when did they come out of service with BA?
BEA - stood for "Back Every Aftertoon" (as they flew to Europe)
