You're either at Le Mans, or waiting for Le Mans!

I watched Road to Le Mans on Motors TV tonight, the featured race was 2003. Mark Blundell mentioned the rain on Friday night and that he was happy that it had cleared up because he had never driven the Bentley in wet conditions.
The thing is, I don't recall any rain on Friday night, or any rain at all for that matter.
Anyone remember rain?
Or, did I get so drunk I that I didn't know it did?

2001 Ian. The year of Bentley's return. Pissed down most of the weekend. I have a wonderful picture by Nicholas Watts on my lounge wall of a Bentley on the Mulsanne being chased by an R8 in atrocious conditions. I just checked it, and  yes, it did have a big sweeping wiper. But I still say it didn't rain in 2003.

I'm with you Bob, There wasn't any rain on the Friday night in 2003!

In fact, Stu should be able to testify to that!  Grin

I think he has his years muddled. Particularly as he says he hadn't driven the Bentley in the wet before as I'm pretty sure he was part of the team in 2001 and it tipped it down!

Incidently 2001 was my first year as well Ian!

I can although I think there was a mud slide though  Grin. The rain was in 2001 when Blundell was driving the MG Lola (if I remember correctly) which was also my first year.

I am certain it didn't rain Friday 2003, I was in the center for the drivers parade, and it was hot, I was riding back from town in shorts and t shirt. Then at at the Brethern bash in the evening, where it was dry and the chilli challenge was very hot Grin.
My brain did melt down at about 3am on Saturday morning though. Lips Sealed

2003 was my first year, and we didnt get to the circuit until the saturday mid-dayish and we got totally drenched in the queue down the slope to the Green Parking entrance (tertre rouge, Stella Bar and Houx Annexe entrance) before we got the hood up. Nick had to drive slowly while I dragged my aching limbs around trying to get the hood up, without losing our place past the flics controlling the queue.*

This is why we always get there earlier. but maybe he means that the circuit was still wet at the start...

Friday night we were at Gace and it didnt rain while we were driving down there from Le Havre.

*I do remember the blokes in the 911 laughing their titzoff at my antics in the queue...  Angry

Bob - I just watched the Motors TV film. Blundell doesn't mention any rain on Friday night. He's interviewed just after the drivers' photo has been taken, and it's starting to rain. That was on the Saturday round about lunch time and you can see that it's raining slightly in the film.
