Hi enlightened and learned bretheren,

Yep, I'm new kid on the block so to speak, but I have watched with awe how this site/forum has grown of age over several years.

Originally I just used it to gain info etc.  But hell, I had to take the plunge.

This is my 15th year at La Sarthe and I can remember a chap asking me how I would decribe Le Mans with a view to coax him to go.  Before I could answer that one, I needed to know a few things, so I asked if he like to drink and party.  He answered in the affirmative (I'm glad to say).

So my description on the 24hrs to him was, ' Well, it's sort of a seven day piss-up with a long race at the end'.

The guy came, and has been quite a few times since.

This year I'm taking my GT6 (now a convertable) - the purple peril, and should be 30yds on left from entrance to Expo (opposite the road to Carrefoures) .  Just look for some Dragons!

Hope to see some folks over there.

Jerry

Hi there and welcome.  Glad you've stopped "lurking" and joined in!  Come along to the 'poo bar at 9 o'clock on Saturday evening and you can meet most of us, not just some.

Hi termie,

" Come along to the 'poo bar at 9 o'clock on Saturday evening and you can meet most of us, not just some".

Don't recollect that one, directions please and if sober I will be there. Well, I say sober, what I meant was , if I'm still standing!

Cheers

Now that is a great way to describe it! Grin

GT6 with a Spitfire body, now that's something I have always fancied. How does it handle, better than a soft top MGC I hope.

MK2 GT6, and MK4 Spitfire body?

Hi Barry,

Mk111 GT6 with Mk1V Spitire rear deck & boot.

Bearing in mind it's 34yrs old, it goes like the bats' but only with 110bhp, so a GTI will crucify it.
Handlings pretty good but hey, I get more admiring looks when toottling down the road, I can also see up mini skirts!!!

I'm thinking of calling it a 'Sixfire'. Anyone know where I can get metal badges made up?

Years ago living in Bromsgrove whilst at college my landlords brother had a Triumph that was a mix between a TR4 and a Spitfire. As you drove past it then looked in the mirror it was most confusing!! He had a collection of wierd cars but apparently this was a one off that never made production called a TR Fury. He also had a couple of Triumph Bullets that had survived from a factory fire that also never saw production.
30 yars ago so the memory is a bit fuzzy, but I seem to remember that they had electric motors to operate almost everything, seats, pop up h/lamps, etc etc.

I remember seeing pictures of the Fury but don't remember the Bullits.

The fury or it's later derivitive should have been produced. Another car that Triumph should have been produced was the 2lt Spitfire. With either the 6cyl or Dolomite slant 4.

My GT6 Mk3 has Spifire rear deck and boot and does get admiring glances. Not just because of twin straight thru's.
