Legend has it that many of the 'stunt' drivers involved in Ronin were in fact professional race drivers. Gone in 60 entered and also another great one -
Ronin, great race thru Paris, made better because of Robert De Niro face of shock/worry was real, as they used stunt drivers using right hand drive cars.

I'm wracking my brains to find the name of a film with a BMW 507 in though. He ends up dying on the beach at the end. Hmm - does Le Mans count? After all, they are each chasing each other........ [/quote] I believe the film was 'The Beach', the drive was Fred Astaire. This is an old B&W 50/60's armagedon type movie. It was a BMW 503, the film was 'The Last Run'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugMsOb5x7QkJerry

3. Gone in 60 Seconds
Which version of 'Gone in 60 Seconds'? If you haven't seen the original, how can you tell.
How about adding to the list 'The Great Race' (Tony Curtis/Jack Lemon/Eric Sykes etc), lovely old looking cars and the best custard pie fight I've ever seen.

C'etait un rendezvous - 1976
Appeared on Fifth Gear tonight, you only saw about a minute of the driving. And yes it was a lumbering Merc with a front mounted camera.
However NBH tried to do a remake.

According to the film database - IMDB, it was the biggest pie fight in film history. It had one of the best quotes " Throw more Brandy" OK Another film for consideration - Monte Carlo or Bust (1969), liked the bit where Tony Curtis jumps the dock to land on the cross channel ferry, to make sure he does not miss his crossing. wonder if some of the CA people are like this on there way down to Le mans

Outstanding list - 1086 films with car chases! And a car marque breakdown too.
Comedy value has to include James Bond (aka Roger Moore) in the 2CV with bullet holes. Better still was the Citroen marketing genius in producing a special edition, complete with stick on "bullet holes", after the car had proved so popular in the film. The translation of the marketing blurb from "full of bullet holes" turned into "full of are*eholes".

One of the few times you gave a 2CV a scond look, I still have some of those stick-on bullet holes some where.

Lying in bed, unable to breath, and clearly dying of a terrible viral infection which the specialists have wrongly diagnosed as a common cold, I saw the weird film Pschyomania on sunday night. Here's what Film Database has to say- This film is hindered by a weak script and quite apathetic acting, but somehow it's ridiculousness makes the film work. Unintentionally Psychomania is an amusing farce, the story of a group of bikers who discover the secret of eternal life, and intend to use this gift for nefarious purposes. The gang themselves are meant to be hardened troublemakers, but the scene where they descend on a town to cause mayhem, is hilarious. I would have thought the Girl Guides could cause more trouble. Saying that, the film has some wonderful one liners, and there is fun to be had in watching this oddball of a movie. Best of all is the sequence where the bikers all commit suicide in order to return as invincible, not for them a simple death the varied ways are way overelaborate and funny. Biker Horror is an odd genre, but the film is great fun and worth a look. Finally, the film does has a cracking soundtrack, a strange blend of gothic high pitched keyboards and hip wah wah guitar, that is always lurking and ably partnering the high jinks on the screen. And yet I found it strangely enjoyable, particularly the elent car/bike action. The Police, in the guise of a young Seigfreid Farnon, had an S Type Jag and I'm pleased to say that the rear door flew open when it went round a corner sideways. One wonders how manytimes it's possible to roll a Thames Trader? Classic early seventies stuff, including one of the living-dead zombie bikers ending up under the wheels of a Commer van. It just can't be beaten.

Okay! Heres a puzzler.I once saw a movie,French I think, where the driver had a long chase from the Police(?) on two wheels. I can remember the scene, but not the movies name.I'm sure it was in the 60's or early 70's.Any clues? Thanks

Ok, has anyone seen 'The Fastest Indian'? sh*t, was that Tonto? staring Hopkins.
About the land speed record at Salt Lake, in the film there was a beach race which showed how clever the editors were.
I particularly liked the way he 'mowed' his lawn though
Great film.
