Someone from the pistonheads froum got an email from the ACO concerning swimming pools, they're forbidden this year Sad. Is there again a water shortage in that part of France?

You don't win Le Mans - you outlast it.

I think they compared the '06 water bill with the '05 one and made up their mind.
Oh well, we did predict this move by the ACO Undecided

Wotcher Paddy,
I'm tempted now to think the ban has more to do with the ACOs liability for swimming pool related accidents, ie drunken drownings, than water conservation. It could well be something that their insurance people aren't happy with. If that's the case, then we may well have seen the end of the swimming pool era, and just have to think of something else to annoy them with. Spontaneous combustion, tunnelling...
Anyway, I thought you Dutch people got nervous at the sight of flowing water?

It hasn't really rained since the end of Feb, does that count?  But I think it's to do with the bill as much as anything.  Everybody is metered here.

I think there are all sorts of reasons why the ACO don't want pools, water cost and consumption being one, space being another.

After they'd bitten the bullet last year and enforced the ban there was no way there were likely to let it slide back this year.  They've done the hard part, this year should be easier for them to enforce it.

We're back to working on our misting system to provide some on pitch cooling  Grin (with thanks to the Porsche Curve Pirates for the idea  Grin)

Last year they put in those push button taps. I used more water than nomal filling my kettle. I push was not enough, but 2 was too much.

And your point is?

Take two recepticles.  Fill kettle, put second recepticle under tap to catch the rest and (here comes the clever bit) save it for next time you fancy a brew.  Not that hard  Undecided

I was also very concerned about the water shortage in France last year, so to help and to do my bit, I tried where possible to drink only beer!  laugh

I'm aiming the same plan this year again, just to help those poor french you know.  Grin
