For those of us that frequent both forums, news that Pistonheads has been bought by Haymarket publishing - read all about it here:

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=15694

and mixed reactions and some nervousness on the forum thread

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=24&t=343742

Not sure that the approach is going to keep the "club" aspects of Pistonheads and the forums there.

To the Great Gods of CA, a plea to preserve CA as the glorious haven that it is from the grasp of advertising, sales and marketing.  It works a treat and the very best thing about CA is that it brings together all of us through a single common interest and allows us to spout as the mood takes us about that subject, anything related to it, anything not related to it, or indeed about complete and utter bollox.  Enduring friendships are made across the country and the world.   Knowledge is shared and problems are solved.  All in all, these are precious things to preserve - and thank you for doing what you do and keeping it that way,

MG Mark

Here here, seconded, amen to that etc, etc.
I belong to another forum which is regulated by a magazine publisher and although useful, as soon as a thread develops any personality, it gets stomped on from above.  Long may CA remain as it is: friendly, funny, quirky, enthusiastic and informative.

I think Haymarket (AutoSport) also own the Atlas Fourm, in which case they seem to have left well alone and I have not have any junk mail or emai from them.

I hope they will also leave Piston Heads alone as well. instead raise revenue from links and adverts etc.
