Hi Del,

Another e-mail reservation gone bad, I am pretty sure that all the ACO does with most e-mail or mail or fax reservations before the race, is just putting them in a big cardboard box until after the 24h.

Then the "chosen few" regulars are selected and after that it is the people that fill in the reservation form at the spot, while collecting their tickets that go first.
Maybe being an ACO member as well helps too, but surely reservations NOT in person are no good.

This year just collect your tickets at the roundabout, fill in the form hand it to the nice ACO lady and you should be fine.

Del, how much space do you need?  We're having Powermite's 4 Zone B tickets, we might be able to spare a bit of that space if that helps you out (assuming you secure the Zone B's?).  We'll certainly only have 2 cars...

I should also have 1 spare Lagache GS but won't know until a couple of weeks before (I've bought one for KeithK in case he doesn't get accreditation and the ACO don't advise this until a few weeks before the event).

I'll be back around on Thursday, let me know if you think we might be able to sort something.  I haven't had my credit card statement yet so no figure for the Zone D's yet.

Bas

I've been ordering for many years by email, and I have been an ACO member since I can't remember.  I also always order in plenty of time.  Last year, I originally sent my order on 3 May, but was told by those nice people in the office that they were not accepting orders till after the test w/e.  What a load of crap that was!!  Anyway, I resubmitted the order on 6 June, immediately after test w/e, only for those nice (again) people in the office to lose it.

I have to admit to being a bit smug for the past few years as I have listened to all the problems other people have had, having already received my allocation of exactly what I had asked for.  But it has gone totally pear-shaped for me this year - on top of the 'zoning'  for this year (what is this achieving??) and allocated pitches next year.

It has really p*ssed me off in a big way and I am feeling that it is now too much hassle and give it a miss in the future.

The only thing that is keeping me (relatively) sane is that in a month or so, I will be looking to order for 2008   Grin Grin Grin

Anita

Thanks for the offer.  As far as the zone B's, I would very much appreciate it if I could buy one of them.  I have 3 cars in my party this year again, and although I normally get 4 tickets so we can spread out a bit, I can make do with the 3 tickets.  As for the GS ticket, some of my mates are as big as I am, and 8 of us in one seat is a big non-starter!!

Once again, best wishes to you and Keith.

LOL Eight in one seat is something I'd like to see!  Grin

We might be able to work something out with the camping - do you need the car pass or the space (does that make sense?) - we'll need some of the space from the fourth ticket (I think) but won't need the pass for a car.

As this whole zoning issue is such an unknown I've gone for four tickets incase some of the zoned areas are difficult to use (Houx and a tree and all that).

You're heading for first thing Monday morning arrival I guess?

Del, I've just realised you've pretty well answered what I asked you.

I'll have to confer after this weekend.   I'm slightly concerned that we'll need some of the space on the fourth ticket.  It's difficult to tell without knowing how the zoning will work and what the risk is of being allocated space that is difficult to use.

As a car pass it's not a problem, it's the space that I'm a bit worried about.

I really need the car pass.  As I said, we have 3 cars and usually pitch in the platinum triangle with DfH, JPC and Rick.

EDIT:  Better if we take this off-line - will PM you

Unfortunately, I can't get there till Wednesday lunchtime this year - my son decided to get married on the Sunday before (the 10th)......on a Greek island, and the only flights to/from the island and the UK is on Tuesday.  So I'll be arriving back at Gatwick 4.00pm on tuesday, driving back to Somerset, and a few hours later, setting off for Dover (7.00am crossing).

I'm hoping DfH/JPC will save me our usual bit of real estate on MB, if they are allowed to!!

Is there any logic in everybody downloading a form for 2008 and posting them all to me to arrive before test weekend and me taking the lot into the ACO office on pq scrutineering day so we don't get these f**k ups next time?

Well you could have someone sign for receipt Termie, but seriously that's a good idea, but the ACO will probably not have the 2008 form ready before the Test weekend anyway.

I always have to fill in some kind of flimsy piece of paper at the ACO when I collect my tickets, in order to reserve for the next year.
