Has anyone got a Tesco Internet phone attached to their PC.

Just set one up on mine and sent one to a friend in Hawaii. He can hear me, but i can't hear him at all.

If you have one, please send me your number so that I can call you on it to test to see if it will call another Tesco phone or if I have a problem somewhere at my end.

Thanks
Chris

Not sure how those work, is it thru the sound card?

Is it OK for calls to other people?

I have a Vonage IP phone - about £8 pm - which plugs directly into my broadband router - PC doesn't need to be on. Free calls to UK, France, italy, Spain, and US & Canadian landlines and mobiles! It's a great service - so far!

I assume the recipients don't end up paying as per other mobile calls abroad?  I must investigate as to whether one would work here as mobile phones are the biggest rip-off known to man in this country.  I assume they need a UK phone number to work?

As I understand it the service is free to both parties.  There is a gotgha.
both perties have to be using VoIP.  You subscribe to skype for free http://skype.com/ and you can then make free calls to anyone anywhere in the world.  If you want to call a normal land line or mobile  then you have to pay a subscription and pay for each call but the rates are very low.
