I remember reading details about this in the 80's, people hire the car for the weekend and took them to the race track. You would think they would had learnt then.

from hertz ad -
"In 1966 the Hertz Corporation and Carroll Shelby produced 1000 Shelby Mustangs. Together, they made these high-performance, special-edition Ford Mustangs available to car rental customers. And the car rental business was never the same.

40 years later, the thrill is back. Introducing the Shelby GT-H—a one-of-a-kind limited edition, available exclusively through Hertz.  It’s just one of the many exhilarating cars that you can reserve from the Hertz Fun Collection.  And unlike the 1966 Shelby, this one comes equipped with SIRIUS Satellite Radio, like all Fun Collection vehicles"

Hmmm,
Nice pic, Ford.
Why is it than one of those cars appears to have been designed by a talented person and a nice sharp pencil, and the other by some sort of hamfisted dimwit and their computer?

No Saleen on there Paddy!  Also, I'd be a bit peed off if I hired a car and got a little red cross instead (glad I'm not alone in suffering from this disease!)

Many of the early 350H Mustangs on the '66 Hertz fleet were manuals and were rented on a Friday, fitted with racing tyres, thrashed all weekend and delivered back to the depot with burnt clutches on Monday morning. Some cars came back with remnants of drag racing decals left on the screen or doors and legend has it that on one car there was evidence of a temporary roll cage being welded in! The later batch of 350 H's came as autos to try and stop the 'weekend racers'....
