Found this one by chance - aside from the clip of Alain de Cadenet nearly being taken out by Ray Hanna in a Spitfire, here's one of the best ever Spitfire clips, the one of Ray Hanna flying under the river bridge for the "Piece of Cake" TV series in the late 80s. http://www.youtube.com/watch_fullscreen?video_id=_OF0v1dwYC8&l=181&t=OEgsToPDskLJy5IAYSy0Z1JNsV4CCVmP&fs=1&title=Spitfire%20Under%20BridgeNo models used. No trick cutting or editing. No computer simulation. Every time I hear a see and hear a Spitfire like that it brings tears to my eyes. I can't explain why, it just does. I think it's a combination of the noise, the gracefulness and sheer beauty of them, and I suppose their history. I'm only 35 now, so it's not that I'm reminiscing over times gone by. It just happens. I just watched that clip about a dozen times, and am sitting here blubbering like a fool. God, to fly one must be awesome...  Love the Alan de Cadanet clip too... |
